Essays should aim to be between 600 and 900 words in length.
You can type this on whatever program you prefer as you compose it, but make sure to upload it to the Blackboard portal.
Essays must include:
-Discussion about 3 keyworks we discussed in class from weeks 10, 11 or 12. Please identify these works at the top of your text. You may label them 1, 2, 3, and then refer to them that way in the essay to save time.
-Substantive reference to and discussion of readings (essays by Schmitter, Carabell, Travers-Newton), with specific reference to ideas from those texts that support or further illustrate your points. Don’t forget to include this material in your quizzes–quizzes without this material cannot earn a full “A.”
Prompt: The frescoes we have examined over the past weeks are, generally, ones ordered by a family or individual and for a private or semi-private space. Who then is the audience for these works? What kinds of messages or symbolism do these image cycles present the eventual visitor or viewer with? Are there any commonplaces or similarities (i.e. trends) that occur across the various cycles? How are the works linked specifically to their site (or the site’s function/purpose)? Extra credit for integrating Prof. Areford’s lecture into your response–how it plays into, or challenges, the topic (even into the contemporary era) and art).
You can choose sculptures, paintings, or architecture to illustrate your points.

Essay 2:
For this essay assignment, I want you to take the Knowledge Styles Diagnostic Inventory on pages 34 and 35 of your textbook, then go to exercise 3.3 on page 49 which contains the table for tabulating your responses on the knowledge styles diagnostic inventory. After you have completed this, write a one or more page essay in MLA format that discusses your results, addressing the following:
1. The name and definition of the three knowledge styles.
2. If you agree with these results or not. Explain why you feel this way.
3. If you feel you need to improve, elaborate on some strategies you could use.
4. Could you use any of the knowledge you gained last week on multiple intelligences to improve your knowledge style?
5. Be creative in your responses, and don’t be ashamed of your results. Most people don’t like the results of this battery but it can be a real eye opener.
NOTE: At a minimum you should cite your textbook in your essay and list it in MLA format on the works cited page.
Grading Criteria
Content (the accuracy of what you say in the essay and how much you say) 80%
Format (must be in MLA format to include having a works cited page) 10%
Grammar (spelling, punctuation, word usage, sentence structure, etc.) 10%
See the attached rubric for this assignment for more specific information on the grading criteria.
Resources
Textbook: Becoming a Strategic Thinker: Developing Skills for Success by W. James Potter.
Knowledge Style Diagnostic Inventory (KSDI) found on pages 49 – 50 of your textbook.
Discussion board 3:
The Discussion Assignment
For this week’s discussion board we will focus on the skill of analysis. First, in your own 100 words, explain why analysis is the most basic or fundamental skill of strategic thinking. Then, find a work of art online and save it to your post either as an attachment or by pasting it directly into your post. Let me know if you do not know how to do this. Next I want you to do a component analysis, an outline analysis, and a focal plane analysis of the artwork. I also want you to explain what you think the artwork is about (what is it trying to say) or what is important about it using your focal plane analysis.
Here are some instructions on how to do this, or see my post for an example. Analysis-With-Art-revised-January2018.pdf. It is the attached file.

I already have a proposal for this paper; it does not have a clear main idea. and i want writer to edit after reading the proposal that professor’s comments.
The one I uploaded the other one have references, and I want the writer to rewrite.
This assignment has two parts: an abstract and an initial bibliogrpahy
Write an approximately 200-word abstract (initial proposal/summary) discussing your initial idea for a photography exhibition or research project on photography. You could investigate a particular photographer, a particular theme, images depicting the same location/ type of event from different historical moments, or some other pressing issue or element of photography. Alternately, you might think about curating an imaginary exhibition. Projects considering archival materials–especially those at UMB are encouraged.
It is OK–even expected–for your project to change.
The abstract/proposal should include the elements below:
1) The research topic you plan to investigate (mention some works you will discuss)
2) an initial thesis that you hope to prove in the paper/ project/ with the exhibition
3) some initial thoughts or findings on the topic
4) a brief summary of possible questions you will address in the final paper/ project/ exhibition
5) a title (that is specific, not generic)
6) how your topic relates to prior scholarship/ exhibitions on the topic you have found or broader trends in scholarship
Include three possible sources for your bibliography as well (cite Chicago style; see https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/717/01/). These should be journal articles, long-form journalism articles, art criticism, interviews with artists, ebooks, books, or museum content. Make sure you can access the resources.

-Substantive reference to and discussion of readings (essays by Pericolo, Nethersole, Bernstein), with specific reference to ideas from those texts that support or further illustrate your points.
Prompt: A connecting theme between the last three lecture weeks has been the study, reinterpretation, and integration of classical artwork and classical style in modern (i.e. Renaissance) works of art. What are some of the ways in which Renaissance artists reused the antique in their work? Did they copy ancient works, or did they synthesize them in their own? What purposes could antique style or classical subject matter serve for artists and for their patrons?
You can choose sculptures, paintings, or architecture to illustrate your points.
