As a current or future social worker, it is important that you can successfully present a client case or program evaluation in an agency or professional setting. In the final course (SKW-690: Social Work Capstone), you will submit a case analysis of a client or a program evaluation. As part of the capstone, you will be required to write a literature review. In preparation for this assignment, you will complete a literature review in this course to be updated and finalized for submission in SWK-690.
The attached document, “Social Work Capstone Analysis Paper Requirement,” is the complete SWK-690: Social Work Capstone directions.
In 750-1,200 words, use the program or service you analyzed in the Topic 1 assignment to explore the background and literature related to the population served or the program facilitated by the agency.
If you are completing a case analysis, your research will focus on the social issue/problem you are studying (e.g., depression, major discoveries, history, strategies for specific population, recent findings, contradictory findings, and gaps).
If you are completing a program evaluation, your research will focus on the elements of the program, including the program model. Explain the findings of the program, exploring the gaps or limitations in prior research, how it has been measured in previous research, and identify critical variables related to the issue you will be researching.
Complete a literature review to include 10-12 sources that include a critical evaluation of the related literature. Include between three to five nontraditional sources for the literature review related to the research topic. The literature review should contain a brief summary and analysis of each source. Be sure to include a paragraph at the beginning of your literature review that briefly describes the scope, severity, relevance of problem area, and theory of the social problem/issue you have selected for this course (100-150 words).
To assist in writing the literature review, you may use the attachment “Background Literature Review.” It is optional and should not be turned in to your instructor.
Access the GCU e-library to find scholarly, peer-reviewed sources to use for your Literature Review.
