Students are required to submit a research/term paper (8-10 pages, excluding bibliography). Longer papers are not encouraged – you should adequately examine a narrowly-defined theme, not briefly discuss a broad range of subjects or summarize the assigned texts. The paper (formatting: 1 inch margins, 12-point font, double-spaced lines) should follow the rules of the Chicago Manual of Style (please also use footnotes).
The paper should examine one them of the Holocaust history as represented in various primary sources (diaries, memoirs, letters, press articles, interviews, posters/films, archival documents, produced by, or about, people who participated in the Holocaust, including perpetrators, victims/survivors, bystanders, rescuers, resisters) and secondary sources (books, chapters, and articles written by scholars). Before deciding on your research paper topic, you should discuss this choice with your instructor. The paper needs to have a clear structure (introduction; main content; conclusion) and argument.
In this paper examine the role of Jewish rescuers during the Holocaust. For instance, focus on the Bielski Brothers partisan group from Belarus who both fought against the Nazis and rescued Jews. As well as some other figures in these sources that were heroic. I will put all 6 sources either below the instructions if they are a link or in the files section which will give you information to use. You must use every source. The theme is Examining the Role of Jewish Rescuers in the Holocaust.
