In your report, you will complete two designs from the Fold’NFly website. You need to select a “Hard” or “Expert” design. You will create the three models of the first design using a Scrum approach. For the second design, you will use the Kanban approach. Your report should be submitted as a Word (.docx) or PDF document with screenshots from Trello and Excel. Other document formats will not be accepted. Clearly indicate each report section (i.e.: design 1, design 2, retrospective) and subsections. You may use other software, but make sure you properly identify and reference the software used. As a report the document should contain an introduction, discussion and conclusion/retrospective section as well as references.
DESIGN 1 USING THE SCRUM APPROACHProvide the name of the design (as titled on the Fold’NFly website) that is being created
Write all user stories needed to build the three paper airplane models of design 1
Provide a figure (image) of the product backlog (Trello is recommended)
Provide Sprint lists (likely 3-5 user stories) with a total time estimate. Assume all are of equal priority.
Provide a burndown chart, with associated data tables, for each sprint using appropriate time stepsState time steps in fractions of an hour (not days)
Estimate how long it will take you to complete a sprint
Indicate your expected burndown velocity
At the midpoint of your estimate, re-evaluate your estimated completion time
Provide pictures of your three finished airplane models with a ruler for scale
Of the three airplane models which you tested, provide a table of performance for distance and time aloft.
DESIGN 2 USING THE KANBAN APPROACHProvide the name of the design (as titled on the Fold’N’Fly website) that is being created
Write all user stories needed to build the three paper airplane models of design
Provide a figure (image) of the product backlog (Trello is recommended)
Create a Kanban board for all three models of this design in Trello using the following queues: In-Progress, Testing, Completed.
Provide a figure of your initial Kanban board with limits in the title of each queue where appropriate
Provide a figure of the mid-completion Kanban board and the final Kanban board
Provide pictures of your three finished airplane models with a ruler for scale
Of the three airplane models which you tested, provide a table of performance for distance and time aloft.
RETROSPECTIVE SECTIONOf the two approaches, which did you prefer for creating the airplane models and why?
If you were applying these approaches to a larger, more complex project, what would be your key insights?
Burndown Chart ResourcesFor more information about how to create a burndown chart, please review How to Create a Burndown Chart in Excel from Scratch. This is far more complex that we need for this project, but gives an idea of how to create a chart in Excel for a larger project. Here is a much simplified Excel spreadsheet that can be used for this project -. It is based on time rather than story points. Keep track of how long it actually takes to complete the tasks – Be honest!
Note: you may choose to create your burndown chart using other software or approaches.
