Students will submit a written reflective essay based on their group presentation experience that should be no more than 1000 words. The reflection should focus on ONE of the following social psychological concepts, as chosen by the student:
Social loafing
Group cohesion
Groupthink
Leadership in groups
In the reflection, you should address the following:
Briefly define the chosen social psychological concept and describe its relationship to group performance.
Describe group, individual, or task characteristics that relate to the chosen concept, with reference to psychological literature. That is, what makes social loafing, group cohesion, groupthink, or leadership more likely to emerge?
Describe how the chosen social psychological concept was relevant to your experience with your group on the group presentation. How does your experience reflect what has been observed within the psychological literature?
Reflect on your own behaviour in the assessment group, in relation to the chosen social psychological concept. That is, what did you do to contribute to the emergence of the concept or attempt to address it?
Describe how you would address the chosen psychological concept to improve your group work experiences in the future.
Your reflection should reference social psychological theories and research and be presented in a manner consistent with APA Publication Manual (7th Ed.).
