This is a scientific writing paper, the file i attached below was written by yall, its a rough draft. Now i just need the Abstract, Results, Discussion and figures. I will provide as much information as i can.
You will be preparing your first complete draft of your paper that is about the plant competition experiment we have started. In addition to the Title, Introduction and Methods sections that you wrote for your first draft, this complete draft should include an Abstract, Results, Discussion, and Figures sections. You will incorporate at least five primary literature resources into the Introduction or Discussion, and you will create a References section formatted in APA style with at least five primary literature sources. You are responsible for incorporating feedback from your IA that you received on your first draft.
Below, you can see descriptions for each of the sections you will be adding to this draft.
Abstract: This is a paragraph that goes between your title and your introduction. The abstract is a summary of your paper. It should briefly introduce your topic of interest, your methods, results, and conclusions. It should not have citations.
Results: You will write your results based on the statistical tests you completed using the Data Explorer in lab. You should include information on what differences you found between treatment groups as well as whether or not they were significant. To report your statistics, you might write something like: “There was/was not a significant different in the mean number of flowers produced per plant across the seed planting density treatments (ANOVA: F(2, 242) = xx.xxx; P = 0.xxxx; Figure 1).” (For your information: The bolded numbers in parentheses are called the “degrees of freedom” and are related to the sample size – 1 of the number of treatments (the first number) and the number of replicates (pots planted and measured; the second number). These come from the tables provided in the results). Fill in the xxx with the values from the document.
Discussion: Your discussion section should be where you describe your interpretation of your results. If you found that your results were significant, what does this say about the effect of intraspecific competition on Brassica rapa? How do your results compare to results of similar studies (that you may have discussed in your introduction)? What would you do differently if you were to repeat this experiment? If you were to continue research on this topic, what questions might you ask in additional experiments?
Figures: You should include two figures to show your results for each of the two variables you tested. These will be the figures you generated with the HHMI Data Explorer. Each figure should have a figure legend that provides information about what is shown in the figure, and it will include any necessary info that isn’t in the graphic.
