This is a consulting/practitioner assignment. Aesthetics of the report matter. You will want to use paragraphs, bullet points, and graphics in the report. Although the use of evidence (academic research) is used to support ideas and recommendations, this paper is not written using a traditional academic voice and style. The goal is to take complex scientific ideas and use language that speaks clearly to the organizational leader and inspires the change.
Part 1: Organizational Diagnostic for Change: Write-Up
Over the course of the class, you will act as an organizational development consultant for an organization of your choice. Choose your own organization or an outside organization. As an organizational consultant in partnership with leaders, write a 5 page diagnostic report outlining findings regarding the design and development of the organization. Make sure to include an introduction and conclusion. For this portion of the report, you will research, evaluate, and diagnose the organization in the following categories:
Background of the organization
Utilizing the Organizational Life Cycle, diagnose where the organization currently is in their development and examples of why you believe the organization is in the identified phase.
Review organizational design elements such as leadership structure, mission, vision, values, and employee policies and state strengths and weaknesses of the organization.
Organization’s readiness for change – not just if they are ready, but if they are tolerant for change… provide examples and reasoning.
Any other observations you feel are relevant.
