1: Take a look at your Preliminary Bibliography. Which five of your ten Pre Bib sources do you think have the best potential for answering these questions: How did my topic become controversial? Who is affected by this controversy/this situation? What opposing views exist on the topic? What specific support will help me argue my position? (That last question may be guesswork if you don’t already have a solid opinion on the situation.)

STEP 3: Start with the article in your bibliography you think you understand best. This will help you gain confidence as you begin. Use the worksheet to write your annotations. You begin by writing a summary of the source. Simply, in two to three sentences, tell your reader what the article was about. This is not the place for details, quotes, or even your opinion.
