Essays should be 4 pages, but it is okay if you go over by a little. They should be formatted using a normal font (Times, Cambria, etc.) in size 12 and double-spaced.
Quotations and references to texts on the syllabus should include the page number. Any references to texts beyond the syllabus should have a proper citation that shows where the information comes from. Those references can follow a style of your choice (MLA, APA, etc.) but should be clear, error-free, and internally consistent.
