The source reaction is designed to allow you to engage with your sources in a less formal, conversational way. The information in these reaction are meant to be the foundation for the draft of the essay. View these samples as models Download View these samples as models.
To complete your source reaction, you must write a response to your source. Choose an article under THE SAME ANGLE AS THE ONE USED FOR SOURCE REACTION 1. To receive full credit, the response must include:
1.) A 2-3 sentence summary, starting with the main idea worded as “In (title), (author’s name)argues/explains/discusses/observes…” and the author’s purpose in writing it.
2.) Paraphrase 2-4 key points from the article & react to them: What parts do you agree with and why? What parts do you disagree with and why? What parts did you feel particularly interesting or puzzling and why? What parts resonate with your own experiences/observations (give examples)? What parts surprised you? (break up into paragraphs & do not use quotes)
3.) What connection can you make to Seaspiracy? Does the article corroborate what was seen? Does it offer an alternate perspective? Does it explore a new dimension not seen or only touched on in the film? What details from the documentary show this connection?
4.) MLA citation at the end (does not count towards the required length)
These responses are to be 1.5 to 2 full pages in length (not including the citation), in paragraphs, and in proper MLA format
