Write an essay to a senior executive of your firm/agency/organization or a close relative/friend who you know is not well informed about the history of US racial formation and racism. Explain to them why this history is important, what the consequences of not knowing it are, and suggest to them how to change the way history is taught to people here and abroad. Be sure to include a counter argument in your essay, something you know your relative or colleague might say to object to your arguments. Make sure to cite three sources in your essay as evidence for your arguments. And be specific about this person. They must be authentic. You don’t have to name them or id them. You can keep them private if you desire. But you must clearly be writing to a real person.
