This paper’s main goal is to detail the use of copper in chemical processes. As well as secondary goal of giving the history, overview and interesting uses of copper. The focus should be on the chemistry involved in the following processes or properties:
-properties of copper (malleability, conductivity, reactivity)
-refining copper from ore
-electroplating and refining (galvanic cells)
-copper’s use in enzymes
-fertilizer’s and or pesticides (copper sulfate)
-possible future or cutting edge uses.
if any other topics would suit the writer better, feel free to substitute. However, the focus must remain on the chemistry or interactions involved. I have provided annotated bibliography on sources that pertain to these uses. If any new sources are implemented or old ones removed, please let me know.
