The United Nations is constantly in the process of addressing global issues and crises affecting our planet. It attempts to tackle issues and problems that no one country is able to do on their own. The main global issues the UN is currently addressing include:

First, please read the UN’s mission and these issues which are explained at length at: UM Mission – Global Issues Overview
Next, select one of the above UN global issues. You will then write a 3-4 page paper summarizing the global issue you have selected, explaining the challenges the UN and the world is facing in attempting to resolve the problems caused by the issue, and what the future holds for the global issue. You should use the UN website, the resources the UN cites (such as studies and articles), as well as outside academic sources to support your statements. Research should come from academic sources such as law review articles in Nexis Uni, articles in the APUS Library (Summon), news paper articles, IGO/NGO websites, and academic studies containing statistics. You may also do research at your local library, museums or conduct interviews of those in the field of the global issue. Non-academic websites, such as Wikipedia or advertising blogs, such as Findlaw, may not be used.
Formatting: Your paper is required to be double spaced in Times New Roman 12pt font, with 1″ margins on each side. You are required to utilize footnotes using the ‘insert footnote’ feature in Word. Citations should be in Bluebook format. No title page is needed. Please place your name, student ID and the name of the global issue you have chosen at the top of the paper. Attach your paper in Word format below.
