1) There are, generally speaking, two kinds of statistics researchers use in analyzing their data, descriptive and inferential statistics. Please explain what they are and how they are used and interpreted.
2) We use only nominal variables in Chi-square Analysis and interval/ratio (ordinal and scaled) variables in most other analyses such as Correlation, Analysis of Variance, and Multivariate Regression. This is why it’s important to know how variables are measured before they are analyzed. Please explain how Chi-square is used and interpreted with nominal variables and how Correlation is used and interpreted with interval variables.
3) When we analyze a hypothesis (or a relationship between two variables) using a statistical analysis technique, we will get a sig. score (also called P score or statistical significance score) that is either =.05. If we get a sig. of P score that is =.05, we usually conclude that we have not found a statistically significant relationship. How do you interpret P=.04 and P=.11? Do you see any problems in using the .05 standard in explaining the statistical findings regarding a researcher’s hypothesis?
