Pick a movie or television show that you think has artistic merit (something that you would think of as “good” or “well made”). Make an argument for the aesthetic quality of the piece in relation to its genre. In making your argument, determine your criteria for a good movie or television show within the genre that you are analyzing. Include at least four criteria. This essay should be 3-4 double-spaced pages and should follow the formatting requirements of the previous essay. This means following MLA guidelines and including a Works Cited page.
Include at least two sources: the movie or television show itself and at least one review or academic essay. You might agree with the review or you might not–either way is okay. What’s important is that this source (or sources) represents your attempt to enter into the broader cultural conversation about a work of art.
