Over the summer, you are hired as a consultant for a company developing a new photography app for mobile devices. The company has a strange, but possibly lucrative, idea, and they desperately need your expert input:
They want to recreate the unique qualities of a daguerreotype, the first photographic process announced to the world in 1839, on a mobile device.
In a short paragraph, explain to the company’s developers some of the qualities they need to take into account when translating this centuries-old technology into our contemporary devices. What distinguishes the daguerreotype from the digital photographs we are so familiar with today? How might we recapture some of those aspects with an app?
