1) View the American Nurses Association NDNQI Overview (video, 3 min 43 sec).
2) While there are many, many different indicators of quality in our workplaces, for this assignment we will look at ones that are nurse sensitive. Review the list of nurse-sensitive quality indicators from the NDNQI found in this ANA article .
3) Choose one of the indicators listed that has been a challenge for you in your practice, one that has been a challenge for an organization that you have worked for in the past, or even one from clinical (educational) experiences. Within that unit or institution, how is this indicator measured and evaluated? How is it tracked and how often? What is the nurse’s role (floor and management)? You may need to ask some questions of your managers to get the information to answer these questions. Write at the least one very well developed paragraph to explain the answers to the questions listed here.
4) Now draw from what you learned in the Open School Lesson. Keeping the six aims in mind (and using the terminology appropriately), go through each aim while explaining how nursing (floor and/or management) could go about employing evidence-based practices that will lead to better evaluation outcomes for that particular indicator. List specific interventions/best practices and how your findings could be applied by the nurse. (This is where your references come in handy.) You may present this in paragraph form, a chart, or bullets.
For this initial post, you will need at least two scholarly sources other than, or in addition to, what has been provided for you in this lesson. (Hint: These will be the sources of information that you find for your EBP in number 4.) All sources will need to be cited and referenced in proper APA 7 format.
