I have to submit a paper on my personal philosophy of nursing. My personal core values I chose were respect, compassion, life experience, kindness, and family. The life experience that made me pursue nursing was my father being diagnosed with cancer. He was in and out of the hospital for 2 weeks before he passed away. He felt horrible mentally and physically due to the treatment he received as a patient. He felt neglected and that his needs were not a priority. The nursing theoris I chose whose theory closely relates to my personal core values is Imogene King.
