Reflect back 2-3 years. What 3 words would best describe you at that time? What did you believe you wanted to do with your life? What career did you see yourself having?
Next, consider where you stand presently on your career outlook. What three words would you currently choose to describe yourself? What barriers stand in your way of achieving your goals? What education and training is needed to meet those goals?
Now look ahead 5 years. Again, identify 3 words would you want to describe yourself at this time. What will you be doing as far as your career? Can you identify any barriers that may be present at this time? What outstanding career goals do you believe you will have?
Identify your personal characteristics, both currently held and those you wish to develop, which will help you meet your goals. Discuss what you will do to overcome the roadblocks and barriers along the way.
Finally, answer the question – At the end of your career, what legacy would you like to leave as your ‘mark’ on your profession?
