In week 3 you selected a topic of interest and formulated a question about that topic for your Evidence-Based Practice Assignment.
In week 4 you searched the literature on your week three topic and submitted three articles for approval towards building your Evidence-Based Practice Assignment.
Module 6 readings are a continuation from week 5 that includes chapters 13 and 14 on Appraising Research Evidence and Clinical Practice Guidelines. Please refer to these chapters on how to complete an appraisal using the templates provided here. For the first template in week 6, you will choose either a Qualitative or a Quantitative Review (Please do not complete both Quantitative and Qualitative Appraisal). Make sure you receive approval from your instructor in week 4 for the article you use to complete either the Qualitative or Quantitative Review and for the Systematic Review. There are hyperlinks to these templates in the week 6 instructions. Do not create your own document with answers.
Each section of the template is required to be completed as this assignment builds on your Evidence-Based Practice Project. Each template has a citation that must be submitted in APA format. Answers to questions in Synopsis sections are required (see template examples in your book). Each question must have an answer of 1-2 full sentences in length per question. Credibility section Yes/No answers are also required. The Comments area is also required and should be at least 1-3 sentences noting how this article relates to your nursing issue topic from week 3 and what you thought was significant.

You are the nurse manager of a unit or clinic. One of your employees notifies you that a nurse who reports to you made a post on social media using profanity and a tone perceived as threatening. In your reflection, draw on your previous experiences, background, culture, etc. (MO 3)

History of Present Illness:
Per EHR review: “This is a 48 years old white Hispanic male with a past medical*HIV, chronic hepatitis C, depression, history of lumbar surgery, and history of seizures. Patient noncompliant with his medication. Patient was brought to the ER by the police because he got arrested due to domestic violence and patient in police car started hitting his head on the windshield and by police patient started having seizure-like activity for like 10 seconds. Patient also have seizures while he was in the ER. Patient seen by neurology. He did receive loading dose of Keppra. His medication was changed for a Vimpat 100 mg twice a day loading dose was given. And by neurology recommendation patient should be admitted to the hospital for observation for seizures. Patient postictal, but answer the question. Denies chest pain palpitations, denies any abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, fever or chills.”
C-L psychiatry is consulted for management of depression.
Patient was seen and evaluated at bedside, accompanied by corrections officers. AAOx3, calm and cooperative. Patient reports that he got into a domestic dispute with his partner of 5 years in which he ended up getting arrested. Patient reports that he has had multiple physical altercations with his partner and his partner has a restraining order against him; he reports officer told him to come to the car and put his hands on the hood and he refused and began running. Patient is complaining of severe depression, helplessness, hopeless, low self- worth, poor sleep, poor appetite and passive SI. Patient reports he has no clear plan, but his life is not worth living if he has to go on like this. Patient has been non-compliant with psychotropic medications for the past year and reports not being able to remember any of the medications that he has taken in the past. Patient is amenable to starting an anti-depressant and following up in the community upon discharge from jail.

Conduct further research to identify two differing proposed solutions or positions related to the news story. Cite them in APA format.
Step 2: Write an 800+ word essay and complete these tasks:
Summarize the news story.
Apply the appropriate ethical theories you have studied to the two solutions/positions you identified in your research.
Compare possible outcomes of the solutions/positions represented by the ethical theories. Explain your reasoning. Be specific and give examples, using at least two outside references, to buttress your argument.
Critique the solutions/positions in light of your personal moral system and defend your position.
Cite all sources in APA format.
