Exploring Artificial Intelligence and Ethical Use Resources in the Canvas prompt:

• ChatGPT

• DALL·E

• You.com AI

After exploring, answer the following questions within 1–2 para:

4. How might this tool be used in real life (school, work, art, etc.)?

You must include:

Struggling with where to start this assignment? Follow this guide to tackle your assignment easily!

This assignment gives you an opportunity to explore an artificial intelligence (AI) tool, observe how it responds to prompts, and think critically about responsible AI use. You will submit one Microsoft Word document containing your screenshots, written reflections, and a five-point Code of Ethics. Follow these steps to complete the assignment confidently.

Step 1: Choose an AI Tool

Select one tool from the instructor’s list:

  • ChatGPT
  • DALL·E
  • Google Gemini
  • You.com AI

Spend 10–15 minutes exploring your chosen tool. Try different prompts and observe how the tool responds.

Tutor tip: Choose a tool that interests you and that you can access easily. Your goal is to explore how it works, not to become an expert in artificial intelligence.

Step 2: Try at Least Two Prompts

Enter at least two prompts into the tool and examine the responses. Choose simple, school-appropriate tasks, such as:

  • Asking the AI to explain a difficult school topic in plain language.
  • Asking it to suggest ideas for a short story or creative project.
  • Asking it to create a study schedule for an upcoming exam.
  • Asking it to summarize a general topic and identify questions you should investigate further.

Record the prompts you entered and what the tool returned. Notice whether the responses are clear, useful, accurate, or incomplete.

Important: Use your own prompts and actual results. Do not invent responses or use screenshots from another person.

Step 3: Capture the Required Screenshots

Your submission must include at least three screenshots:

  1. Tool interface: Capture a screenshot showing the AI tool you selected.
  2. First prompt and response: Make sure the prompt and the corresponding response are visible.
  3. Second prompt and response: Capture your second prompt and its response.

Check that your screenshots are readable and that the prompts and responses are not cut off. Insert them into your Word document near the relevant discussion.

Before capturing or sharing screenshots, remove or avoid displaying personal information, passwords, private conversations, account details, or sensitive school information.

Step 4: Write the Part 1 Reflection

Write one or two paragraphs answering all four required questions:

  • Which AI tool did you choose?
  • What did you ask it to do or generate?
  • What results did you receive?
  • How could the tool be used in real life, such as at school, at work, or in art?

Use your own experience as the basis for the reflection. Explain what you found useful, what surprised you, and whether you noticed any limitations. Be specific about the actual prompts and responses you observed.

For example, if you asked an AI tool to explain a science concept, discuss whether its explanation helped you understand the topic and whether you would verify the information before using it in an assignment.

Step 5: Complete Part 2 — The Write-Up

Review the full assignment prompt in Canvas to confirm the specific requirements for Part 2. The instructions provided here identify Part 2 as a separate write-up but do not include its detailed
