(1) The Table to be completed is included in the attached document.
Please, use the Appendix as a guide to what is required as well as links to Youtube videos.
(2) Once your Research Design Alignment Table is completed, reflect on your design alignment. Ask yourself:
1. Is there a logical progression from the research problem to the purpose of the study?
2. Does the identified framework ground the investigation into the stated problem?
3. Do the problem, purpose, and framework in the left-hand column align with the RQ(s) (all rows)?
4. Does each RQ address the problem and align with the purpose of the study?
5. Does the information across each individual row match/align with the RQ listed for that row?
• By row, will the variables listed address the RQ?
• By row, will the analysis address the RQ?
• By row, can the analysis be completed with the data points that will be collected?

The length of the paper is 20-25 pages, excluding figures, tables, and references. The paper is expected to include at least 10 scholarly sources, and contain the following components or sections. You may choose to organize your paper using sub-headings for the following:
1. Abstract – one paragraph stating research question, the type of information examined, how you analyzed the data, and your findings.
2. Problem statement and research objective: why is your topic important? The problem state conveys a brief overview of the background/context of your research questions. Research objective should be specified. Your work will either provide an answer to explain the problems selected (to why question) and/or provide policy implications.
3. Literature review: You are supposed to do a proper literature review on publications on your research question, analyzing research trends (e.g., hot issues, unsolved problems) as evidences for your sufficient understanding on your research topic.
4. Data and method: What type of data/information will you use and how will you use them to answer the research question? For example, will your analysis consist of a quantitative review of related research or other relevant information? Or will your analysis be more qualitative? (Empirical work is preferred).
5. Analysis: analysis using proper methods.
6. Findings/Discussion: What is the ‘answer’ to your research question? Try to elaborate a bit on the ‘whys’ relating to your findings. This is the section to speculate a bit based on the findings through the research.
7. Conclusions/Policy implications: Simply reiterate your findings and offer suggestions for future research or for better policy on the topic area.

Research Questions:
RQ#1: For advocacy nonprofit organizations in Los Angeles County, California, who serve undocumented immigrants, what were the themes reported in the challenges and barriers to obtaining support, resources, etc., to help their clients access health care while working on getting legal status?
RQ#2: For advocacy nonprofit organizations in Los Angeles County, California, who serve undocumented immigrants, what were the themes reported in their recommendations for needed changes to the US existing immigration policy?
REQUESTS:
1. Nature of the Study:
What systematic approach/method and research design do you plan to use to address your research question(s)?
(a) To address the research questions in this Qualitative study, the specific research design will include:___________________
(b) Reference entry for the work on which this research design is based: ______________________
2. For your planned research design, what type of data will you need and what data collection instruments will provide it?
3. What data sources and analysis do you plan to use to answer your research question(s)?
4. What limitations, challenges, and/or barriers might you need to address while conducting this study (e.g., access to participants, access to data, requirements for storing data, separation of roles or other ethical considerations, instrumentation fees, etc.)?
5. Significance:
How will your study address the meaningful, discipline-specific issue that you identified and therefore contribute to your field, discipline, professional practice, etc. contributing to positive social change?

Complete the information below:
1. Supporting Literature: Search a minimum of five literature related to the Proposal topic above. In your review of recent (3 years) empirical literature, what keywords did you search, and in what databases?
2. What social problem prompted you to search the literature to find out more? Write in complete sentences using a scholarly tone.
Social Problem
(a) First, define the social issue and provide evidence (through citation) of its scope and relevance to the discipline of public policy or public administration. This might require that you find up-to-date statistics gathered from the public agency responsible for its collection and interpret trends.
Example: There is a problem in __________ (society, organization, institution, policy, etc.). This problem impacts __________ (name the population) because __________ (describe the impact) (MANDATORY: insert your current, peer-reviewed evidence/data and source that identifies the severity – why the problem is worth studying).
(b) Now, refer to the five studies you have previously summarized in the Supporting Literature Section above and reflect on common findings or common research approaches and consider how researchers have approached the study of the issues to date from the discipline’s perspective. Summarize this body of research (with citation) in a few sentences so you can delineate for the reader what you believe researchers have come to know and what the gaps currently are in the research literature.
Example: Literature reviewed for this study identified _______________ theme(s) as the foundation for the focus of other researcher’s studies (insert at least three different main focuses of the five articles AND provide current peer-reviewed sources from your AB synthesis-include at least three themes and sources).
3. Gap: Follow this by thinking critically about what you have observed in the finding during your cursory review of the research literature to help you identify what was missing. What data is missing? What makes your study unique?
Example: Although researchers have investigated this social problem, there is very little or no literature on ____________________________________
4. Research Problem:
Finally, identify what researchers do not know about the research problem, what still needs to be investigated (Note – alignment – is the data identified in the gap what is needed to address this problem).
Example Quantitative Research Problem Sentence: The specific research problem is it is not known whether/to what extent________
Example Qualitative Research Problem Sentence: The specific research problem is that there is a lack of understanding about______
Pay close attention to your writing (grammar and typos), use of citation (must use APA with precision), and with how you move the reader through the one to two paragraphs.
