This week you synthesize your review of scholarly literature and address the theoretical foundation or practice orientation for your study. Let’s discuss how your proposed study benefits the field. For this week’s discussion, choose one of the following for your post:
Discuss how your study is grounded in your field and the problem it addresses. Which new or different aspect of the problem does your proposed study address? How does this motivate you to continue your work?
Share how your study results may address the problem. Are you finding anything in your work that particularly surprises you? What will practitioners do better once they have the insights from your project?
As we wrap up this week, share resources from the course, the library, or your peers that were most relevant and immediately useful to your project.

The teacher is looking for a brief (paragraph) summary of an empirical paper related to our class study, akin to how you would write about it in your introduction. For example, instead of telling me all of the measures used and the exact statistics, you would tell me only enough details about the basic design, procedure, and results so that I can understand what the study found (we’ll talk about how to strike the appropriate level of detail). Relate the article to our current study. Points will be allocated as follows: 10 points for correct APA style citation (the full citation as it will appear in your References section), 10 points for summary of design of study (e.g., “In one experiment,” or “In a correlational study”), 20 points for summary of findings, and 10 points for relating back to your hypotheses. If a paper includes more than one study, please focus on ONE of them (the one most relevant to your hypotheses). In this second article summary, you also need to include your hypotheses, so I can provide feedback on them (and so I can ensure that you are properly relating your article back to your hypotheses).
The one study I’m focusing on is gratitude.
I have attached the article I chose to use which is “Are Some Ways of Expressing Gratitude More Beneficial Than Others?” and our class study article she wants us to refer to which is “The proximal experience of gratitude”
I also attached a document that helps with the hypothesis. And the two dependent variables i chose was gratitude and indebtness.
Lastly I attached an example my teacher provided for the summary.

Please note that the first row of data is meant as an example. Please read the example article (Peng et al., 2022) as a guide for how to dissect eachof the four articles assigned. The links to the four assigned articles are found in the Announcements area of our courseroom. These articles change each quarter. Please do not use any other articles. Use only the four articles linked in the courseroom Announcements. The focus of this research matrix is “family caregiving”.
Keep in Mind:
1). This is not merely an assignment for you to find information in an article and copy and paste information into the columns in the below matrix. Read and analyze the authors’ work in each article and evaluate it based on the assigned readings for this course and then offer your evaluation of what you read. You are to offer content in the matrix to reflect that you are an informed consumer of research.
2). There is much variation in published primary research articles and reports. Not all authors will include all the same information, verbatim or at all, based on the headings in the columns below. If that is the case, you will need to offer your own analysis of what the information should be in a logical manner aligned to the other information in the source that is provided. There should be no blank cells in the matrix below.
3). Communicate your input in a manner that is completely scholarly, professional, and consistent with the expectations for members of an identified field of study, using APA style and formatting, with few or no errors and include a formal APA style reference list. The reference from the example article has been completed for you to use as a model.

(Peng et al., 2022)
Family caregiving;
Person with Schizophrenia; positive caregiving; negative caregiving; rural China; chronic illness management
No clear research question was listed, but extrapolating from the purpose of the study, the question would be:
What is the long-term caregiving experience of family caregivers of people with schizophrenia (PwS) in rural China?
Theory of stress and coping; theory of symptom management
N = 20 people who were a family member of someone who was PwSspanning 1994-2015; provided at least two hours of care daily to PwS for no less than six months in the past year; aged 18-80; Mandarin or Sichuan speaker
Qualitative
The study lead to five main themes (with subthemes):
1. Long-term caregiving experiences for 18 of 20 participants, primarily spouses or parents, even if they wanted to stop as it was difficult to find someone to take over.
2. Caregiver burden (often due to expensive medications) included financial and psychological burdents as well as domestic workload and family stigma associated with schizophrenia
3. Positive thoughts developed over time as younger families managing the PwS grew into older families with fewer domestic burdens and financial strains as well as growth in coping skills and acceptance of their role in the family.
4. Coping strategies were mostly positive for the participants though some got angry when their PwS had a relapse and demonstrated negative coping skills.
5. Family roles and relationship restructuring occurred for most participants where the spouses tended to live separate lives and wives were likely to view their marriages to PwS as a misfortune that was their destiny. And PwS were less likely to be able to take care of their parents as was customary in China leading to strain for other family members.

Overview
In Week 2, you were introduced to literature mapping as part of the preparation for a literature review. This assignment consists of a completing a research matrix, which is type of literature mapping/organizing that uses a table format. This matrix includes research concepts that can be found and connected to the published scholarly research provided by your instructor. Four research articles have been selected for you to read and dissect for completing the research matrix (table). The articles for this assignment are posted in the Announcements area of the courseroom. In the Literature Review Research Matrix [DOCX]
Download Literature Review Research Matrix [DOCX]
, a sample article is completed for you as an example; you will need to complete the matrix for the remaining four articles.

Assignment Overview
You will write a 1-2 page assignment that will identify consciousness-altered state terms by describing the neurobiology of altered states based on the interactive activity https://youtu.be/prcxcdfGxgA?si=QWJPQ_2Uz2-T-VxE
Directions
First, work through the mice in https://youtu.be/prcxcdfGxgA?si=QWJPQ_2Uz2-T-VxE
observing their responses to the various drugs utilized.
Answer the following questions in your assignment submission. Remember, all assignments need proper in-text (in a paragraph) citations and references (at the bottom). You can cite course material by the page name; if you are using a direct quote, it must have the specific paragraph number or page number if using the PowerPoints.
Define psychoactive drugs.
Explain what leads a person to move from the casual or recreational use of a drug to a state of addiction – what happens in the brain and the body?
What type of injection would you predict to be more pleasurable for the rat? Would the location of the injection make a difference?
Why can some people use a drug moderately for years while others move quickly from casual use to a full-blown addiction?
Guidelines
Follow standard academic formatting: 12pt font, double-spaced, 1″ margins.
Your TurnItIn score should be below 30%.
Each paragraph should have a minimum of one citation, and all sources must be appropriately listed in your reference page.
Citation Examples: (OpenStax 9.2, para. 4, 2020) and (University of Utah, n.d.)
Reference Examples: OpenStax College (2020). Psychology 2e. Rice University.
Course Outcomes in this Assignment
MO 5.1: Analyze the concept of consciousness and distinguish between various altered states of consciousness by summarizing their characteristics and implications (CO 7.A, 7.B, 7.C).
MO 5.2: Evaluate the effects of different psychoactive drugs on brain function and behavior, illustrating the neurobiological mechanisms underlying addiction and drug action (CO 5.A, 5.B, 5.C, 5.D).

Within your paper, please do the following:
Please consider how and why you arrived at this list.
Please note any personal links with any of the topics and issues and consider how these may affect you and your study.
