The above question is essentially the topic of the essay. It is essentially a yes and no answer that has top be stated in the theses with the points of why and how to then be explained in the bodies. Event Analysis: A paper (4-6 pp) analyzing how a significant cyber event influenced policy direction. This can be global, regional or a domestic issue but it must have shaped a government’s or multiple government’s approach to their cyber policy and doctrine. The Event October 2010. Stuxnet, a complex piece of malware designed to interfere with Siemens Industrial Control Systems, was discovered in Iran, Indonesia, and elsewhere, leading to speculation that it was a government cyber weapon aimed at the Iranian nuclear program. 1) Ensure you provide context for the event. This means highlighting the domestic, regional and/or global political situation that is going on. 2) Articulate your understanding of the motives the actor had (e.g.. was it economic, political, espionage, in support of a war effort). 3) Speak to the response of the impacted country(ies). What did they do? Why? If multiple countries were impacted, did they react in a coordinated way or did each one behave differently? Why? If a country did not respond, why not? (This often happens and the lack of a response is interesting as it says something about the goals that a country has or the response may not have been public). 4) Why was this event important? Did it alter the way policymakers think about cyber? Were laws changed? Was their a societal impact that governments had to address? Was the action and response escalatory in anyway? How so? (Note, it can be some or all of these or even have other impacts I’ve not listed, this is just meant to get you thinking). 5) Do you agree with the actions the impacted country(ies) took? Do you think there were alternative responses that could have been more productive? Why? I’m looking for quality analysis not a specific number of pages. The spectacular rise of the Chinese economy is one of the overriding features of 21st-century international politics. China has become the second-largest economy in the world and one of the world’s leading exporters (although both Germany and Japan still export substantially more than China). Indeed, in 2021, the China-U.S. trade surplus hit $676.43 billion, the highest since records started in 1950, up from $523.99 billion in 2020 as exports increased by more than 20% boosted by the post-covid economic recovery. Should US policymakers be concerned about China’s economic growth, particularly given its authoritarian government? Is China likely to overtake the US as the dominant world economy in the foreseeable future? Even if so, is an economically stronger China detrimental to US interests? Which model would you prefer members of Congress adopt? Would you prefer they act more as delegates or as trustees when representing their constituents? Why?
