Please submit a 500-word discussion post on A Concise History of the United States. Some ideas/issues you might consider:
American Exceptionalism? Stone is ultimately providing a historical critique of exceptionalism
American Myth? More central than Exceptionalism, the text addresses what Stone regards as an almost mythical understanding of US history and the role of the nation globally.
Role of media in our understanding of events/history – consider how the discussions of Bernays and Chomsky fit into Stone’s account. Is this propaganda or an attempt to rectify propaganda?
To what extent is this an “untold” history? Or is it in fact – a dominant narrative among historians/academia (e.g. role of Soviets in WWII and Truman’s decision to drop the bomb), but not a history that has penetrated to the general public? Public schools, mainstream media – the mass public that cling to the idea of “American Exceptionalism”. More “unlearned” than “untold”?
Is this conspiratorial – or, does Stone simply try to draw our attention to “unseen forces” – political, corporate, psychological – that shape our society in ways we are not aware of.
To what extent does this fit the accusation of critics that it is nothing more than Cold War “revisionism” and “Stalinist Propaganda”
Some consider Stone’s account as coming from a “Leftist” lens? Is the “left” cornered by the “right” in matters of patriotism? Does this make criticism of US actions – past or present – politically dangerous?
How easy is it to balance National Security vs. Morality? Is Stone overly idealistic?
How easy is it for us to make moral/normative judgments about historical actors (e.g. Truman)? Truman as a “wimp” who was eager to stand up to Stalin… (psychoanalyzing him). Does Stone fail to acknowledge the social, political and psychological complexities that dominate human actions? Is this an “alternative mythology”?

This is for my International Human Rights class and my professor wants the in-text citations and references to be in APSA format. Come up with a research topic- must be in regards to international human rights. You should include three case studies, but make sure to use the Rwanda Genocide as one case study for support.

Answer the two (2) following questions.
Write a briefing note on the following subject to the Minister of Defence: Should Canada sign a ballistic missile defense (BMD) treaty with the United States to participate in the U.S. BMD program? Except for the word count, the briefing note should conform to the instructions of your earlier briefing note assignment. (Word count: 1000 words)
It is 2025. You are a senior defense policy advisor in the White House. The President has asked you for a position paper to outline a more restrained U.S. defense policy that is more in line with ‘realist’ ideas than with neoconservative or liberal internationalist ideas. The position paper should outline in broad contours how U.S. Grand Strategy might change and why a restrained policy might be a good thing. (8001000 words)
Position paper instructions: As a position paper, this assignment is more like an essay aimed at policy makers.
It should take a position (e.g. a thesis) and the paper should make strong arguments and marshal evidence for this position.
Avoid too much academic jargon – when you use academic ideas, explain them in plain language more amenable to policy makers.
Citations/references: normal essay conventions apply, so please appropriately cite your work and include references where needed.
Outside research: the course materials will provide the basis for these assignments, however, some outside research is likely to be useful. There isn’t a fixed number of required outside references
Format: double spaced, 12 point font.

Please don’t use any other sources but the book provided which is Aristotle, Politics Book I (all), Book II, chapters 1-5, 7, 9, Book III, chapters 1, 4-18. Here are some guide lines to follow when answering the question :
a) selecting and directly quoting two specific passages from the text

c) considering their implications with respect to the text as a whole
d) most importantly, explaining in detail why those two passages constitute important evidence

develop a memo and related deliverables (ads, memes, calls to action) your campaign would use to educate, persuade, and mobilize targeted audiences, deliverables that supporters and donors could then use to re-post, thereby seeking to influence their own social media networks.
Again, think of Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, or other platforms that would reach voters or that you’d like your supporters to use to get their family, friends, and contacts to support your candidate.
Examine some audiences you would choose, the messages you would use and the visuals and words you think might be effective (as well as the social media platform you would focus on)
You want to ensure the candidate, campaign leadership team, or whoever is going to hire you – or, in this case, grade your work – that you are constantly reviewing and revising your approach to meet the ongoing challenge of maximizing your candidate’s strengths and taking advantage of your opponent’s weaknesses.

write a thoughtful and well-organized essay. The essay should be between 4 and 5 pages, typed, and double-spaced. No outside research is required, just close and careful attention to the text(s), I will attach. You are expected to respond to the topic (that you will find below) by writing answers that make frequent and specific reference to the text in order to support your argument. Remember to cite the text where appropriate, using parenthetical citations (APA Manual of Style). Do not respond to the topic with a simple summary of the text and do not provide your informal and personal opinions on the questions. You must make your arguments through a careful analysis of the text, relying on textual evidence to build your case, in the form of quotations, paraphrases etc. All arguments and claims you make must be supported by an interpretation of the text. It is essential that you synthesize your thoughts about the question into a critical assessment of the issue, encapsulated in a THESIS. The best papers will present and defend a sharp, argumentative thesis about the texts, rather than recounting or restating the arguments in the texts. You also have to provide me with a comprehensive and detailed outline for this paper before you start doing it. This outline will include the thesis statements.
Topic: Non-violence and violence have both been used as tactics for civil disobedience and mass movements of political resistance. Which is the more compelling tactic and why? In composing your answer be sure to analyze the political writings of both Gandhi and Fanon.
