Identify and explain three primary agents of political socialization, and explain their importance. Next, identify and explain three secondary agents of political socialization. Do you think a person’s political opinion can change over time? Explain. Define political ideology and briefly define the following terms: libertarian, classical liberal, modern liberal, traditional conservative, modern conservative, socialism, communism, and fascism. Several factors play a role in a person’s interest and participation in government. List and explain three of these factors and how they contribute to/detract from participation. Why is it important for citizens to participate in the political process? Describe some of the problems surrounding public opinion polls. How does public opinion influence public policy? Explain the electoral college. Can an election in the electoral college differ from the population’s election? Describe today’s political campaigns. Include the shadow campaign, primary campaigns, and general election campaigns. During the 1800s various political parties in the United States rose, evolved, and died. Today the two major parties reflect differing ideologies. Summarize the ideology each party promotes and the segments of society and the economy that each attracts. Discuss the various elements in the election process from announcing candidacy to election. Money is a crucial component of any presidential campaign. Where do campaign funds come from? Discuss the importance of direct democracy. List some examples of this process.

1. In order for a court to hear a case, it must have jurisdiction. What is jurisdiction? Distinguish between original jurisdiction and appellate jurisdiction. 2. How does a case come to be heard by the Supreme Court? Describe how cases are selected. 3. After a case has been decided, the Court issues its ruling. Distinguish between the terms decision and opinion. Then, define the following terms: majority opinion, concurring opinion, dissenting opinion. Who writes the opinions? 4. Briefly describe U.S. district courts and U.S. courts of appeals and discuss the importance of state courts. 5. Justices are nominated to the federal court system by the president and confirmed (or rejected) by the Senate. What considerations go into a president’s choice of Supreme Court nominees? 6. Besides the Constitution, consider the statutory and administrative influences on the Court and its decisions. How does the Court shape public policy? 7. Distinguish between criminal law and civil law cases. Give examples. 8. Marbury v. Madison (1803) is the case most closely associated with judicial review. Define judicial review. What impact can that power have on the other two branches of government in particular and on American society in general? Is the power specified in the Constitution? 9. Judicial restraint and judicial activism are the terms that describe the degree to which justices defer to precedent and elected officials. Define these two terms. Which practice considers the Constitution a living document or a static document, and why? 10. Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka (1954) produced a landmark decision that dramatically changed American society. Using this case or another landmark case as an example, discuss how Supreme Court decisions can affect everyday American life.

Lead Discussion
Look at the reading only Chapter 2, ‘Oil- Discovery and Production in the Persian Gulf (attached in the file below). You will lead the class discussion for your chosen day. This is not a presentation. But I need a full scriipt. You are expected to do two things:

Instructions
Having examined the important problems in the U.S. recently, take a deeper dive into one of them. (I am choosing High cost of living/Inflation)
1) State a thesis statement explaining what the issue is and why it is currently considered a top problem.
2) Explain who the opposing players and interests are on the issue. Include interest groups, politicians, and media figures.
3) Detail how social media platforms like Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter have influenced the issue, including either promoting, downplaying, or even censoring the issue.
Several sources should be cited and listed in the references to support points. These include the book, lessons, news articles, and relevant websites.
The task is to research, create, and support a scholarly argument using facts and evidence. Personal opinions are unnecessary and should be left out of the arguments. State facts and back them with citations. Phrases like “I feel” or “in my opinion” should appear nowhere in the essay.

We are off to a great start. In terms of grading for all written assignments, I would like to offer the following advice:
I look for ample supporting details in order for you to demonstrate mastery when grading all written assignments. When writing for academic purposes, it is imperative to answer who, what, when, why, where, and how. This works for me when I write for academic purposes. I encourage you to write a detailed introduction and conclusion for the analysis in the future. The introduction and conclusion proves that you are able to convey, from your own perspective, the important aspects about the lesson. Within the body of the response, please be sure to include current events and examples by incorporating in text references that support your points of views. The body of your response should be in great detail from mainly your own views. Here, you are discussing facts and supporting facts with in text references, examples, and current events. Please use quotes as well. However, do not overshadow the body of the response with quotes. Use the quotes to support your position, opposed to using the quotes to make your points. Be sure to use at least 4 sources which in order to be scored in the exceptional range. The use of multiple and ample sources indicate that you have read a broad range of perspectives and that you are able to offer the class a broad perspective/increased view on the topic. Adhering to the above-mentioned suggestions will, in my professional opinion, really help you to reach exceed which is where you want and deserve to be.

The assignment has been developed by the Political Science Department, and it meets all the requirements for the assigned course objectives.
The main focus of the paper is not the selected topic, but how within your selected topic you discuss the role of the three branches of government and also the role of the three levels of government, as it relates to your selected issue. See the assignment indications and also the assignment rubric for more details.
Write a regular essay of at least three paragraphs (introduction, body and conclusion).
