Assessment 1: Revision Journal (1000 words) due (10%)The revision journal consists of two entries at 500 words each, answering two questions (listed below). These exercises are designed to help you practice essential skills for Film Studies, which will help you with both your essay and the exam. Both entries should be written in prose, not as a series of points. In both parts, you should be aiming to produce a concise argument. Dr Mulvogue and/or your tutors will be available via appointment to discuss individual studies both before and after you submit your work. Late submissions will result in a loss of marks and in limited feedback, thus impeding achievement in both this assessment and the one to follow.1. Analysis of a film sequence. Analyse either of the short sequences chosen from The Beaches of Agnès or Parasite (these sequences will be made available on Moodle). Discuss the way in which your chosen sequence utilises formal aspects addressed on the module such as editing, cinematography, mise-en-scène, and/or sound in order to further the narrative and themes (i.e. implicit ideas, social commentaries, etc.). You do not have to discuss every single feature of the sequence but should choose one or two elements to focus on in making your interpretation.2. Analysis of film scholarship. Find a scholarly essay in an academic journal on a subject relevant to your sequence analysis (for example, if you chose The Beaches of Agnès, the article could be on the film itself, or on documentary form/aesthetics, authorship, feminist film practices, and so on). Week 1 (September 25 – October 1): Introduction & Prologue
Reading: Prologue (Amsterdam)
Assignment:
Write a reflection (1-2 pages) on Theo’s emotional state in the prologue. How does his isolation foreshadow the novel’s larger themes?
ECE Connection: Consider how early childhood educators can help children navigate emotional trauma. Include examples of trauma-informed care strategies.

Overview: In each course, students will develop a comprehensive study guide that relates to the BACB test-content outline items that are covered in the course.
Rationale: The purpose of this Capstone component is for students to develop a portfolio that will serve as a study guide when studying for the BACB exam.
At 4 points during the semester, students will submit progress on their study guide. This is to ensure that students are making progress toward completing their study guide and that their study guide has adequate detail. At each checkpoint students will:
Create an outline of the test content outline items that have been covered
Write 5 original multiple choice questions that include the correct answers and rationale for the correct answer
Provide 1 visual aid to enhance understanding of a complex topic (e.g., chart, diagram, table, illustration). These must be completed by the student and may not be taken from the Internet.
Submit 2 references to review to enhance understanding of complex material
Grading
The first 4 Checkpoints will be graded as complete/incomplete. You will earn 5 points for each check point submitted if it includes the following items:
Outline (You must use content provided in the course to complete the outline. You may use your text, assigned articles, lecture videos or any materials assigned in the Course. You should not use materials outside of the course)
5 multiples choice questions that include the correct answer as well as a rationale for the correct answer
1 Visual support
2 references to review to enhance understanding of complex material.
The final submission is worth 25 points. Partial credit is not provided. Students will earn points on the final rubric for submitting each check point.

The body of the answer to this assignment is that I was diagnosed with dyslexia when I was ten years old. Working with a tutor, extra effort, and tools like audible have allowed me to prosper, be a 4.0 student, class president, school athletic team and investment club manager. I have plenty of excused absences this year because I had a mental health medical emergency. I am in a program for six weeks instead of school where I am getting the help I need. I am keeping up with school work and my grades. I can’t wait to get back to school in a few weeks, but I had to prioritize my health, etc.

Write the academic expectations portion of your rationale essay, where you analyze ESC’s and SUNY’s knowledge and skills expectations and explain how you have addressed those in the content of your degree. This section is one of the most important in the rationale essay. It validates your choices for your degree and ensures that there’s “truth in advertising” – that if you develop your degree and concentration in a certain field, you have included the knowledge that’s usually expected in that field.
There are three important things to consider as you’re drafting this section:
You do not have to analyze and rationalize every course in your degree; you may have many elective courses that are unrelated to a guideline or a general education requirement, and that’s fine. But you do need to explain, in your own words, what the guidelines and general education requirements are and how you have addressed them.
You should not simply describe the content of certain courses, or quote course descriiptions. Instead, this portion of the essay really is a rationale – a reasoned analysis of how you have addressed academic expectations.
