Imagine you are a proposing a training on systemic leadership for Skyland Trail. Develop a PowerPoint presentation describing how systemic leadership could be applied to the people side and structural side of Skyland Trail. Make sure you equally address the following:
1. How does systemic leadership apply to how you would work with the people in your organization?
2. How does systemic leadership apply to how you would work with the processes and structures of your organization?
3. Give a few examples of how you could implement people and structural processes as they relate to systemic leadership.
Incorporate appropriate animations, transitions, and graphics as well as speaker notes for each slide. The speaker notes may be comprised of brief paragraphs or bulleted lists.
Support your presentation with at least five scholarly resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources may be included.
Length: 12-15 slides, PowerPoint
Notes Length: 100-150 words for each slide

Create a 2-3 page draft proposal for the Final Research Proposal (due at a later date). Be sure to include the research question, literature review, hypothesis, etc (see attached).
-Please review the two writing samples attached as well as the feedback notes. This is JUST A DRAFT and will be build upon in the final phase.
-I have added a few references and can add more at a later. Please avoid international journals as they are hard to get copies of. Would like a combination of books and scholarly article references.

The assignment is about an in-depth project for a master’s thesis, we are two people who will write this project, only my part will be written by you (see attachment), which is the theory of inter-organisational relations. A part has already been written by one of you, but there is something missing so more needs to be built on. I received feedback from my supervisor, who believed that there were too many theories that had been mentioned. The supervisor said that the theories used must be relevant for further research (the master’s thesis), and that 2 or a maximum of 3 relevant theories should be chosen (remember to remove the theories that do not need to be included anyway), RDT and the collaboration theory were good enough and that it should be more in-depth and a link to knowledge development in the theory part so that there is a red thread between my text and the person who will write a theory about knowledge development. The research questions you proposed should also contain knowledge development, as entire preliminary projects are about “Inter-organisational relations and knowledge development”.
There must therefore be some mention of knowledge development through the text, I think the supervisor meant it so that there would be a connection between my text and the fellow student’s text.
When you remove the pages that are not to be included anyway (about 3 pages), then you must fill those pages again with more relevant content as said.

Case 2.1 Choosing a New Director of Research
Sandra Coke is vice president for research and development at Great Lakes Foods (GLF), a large snack
food company that has approximately 1,000 employees. As a result of a recent reorganization, Sandra
must choose the new director of research. The director will report directly to Sandra and will be
responsible for developing and testing new products. The research division of GLF employs about 200
people. The choice of directors is important because Sandra is receiving pressure from the president
and board of GLF to improve the company’s overall growth and productivity.
Sandra has identified three candidates for the position. Each candidate is at the same managerial level.
She is having difficulty choosing one of them because each has very strong credentials. Alexa Smith is
a longtime employee of GLF who started part-time in the mailroom while in high school. After finishing
school, Alexa worked in as many as 10 different positions throughout the company to become manager
of new product marketing. Performance reviews of Alexa’s work have repeatedly described her as being
very creative and insightful. In her tenure at GLF, Alexa has developed and brought to market four new
product lines. Alexa is also known throughout GLF as being very persistent about her work: When she
starts a project, she stays with it until it is finished. It is probably this quality that accounts for the
success of each of the four new products with which she has been involved.
A second candidate for the new position is Kelsey Metts, who has been with GLF for five years and is
manager of quality control for established products. Kelsey has a reputation for being very bright. Before
joining GLF, she received her MBA at Harvard, graduating at the top of her class. People talk about
Kelsey as the kind of person who will be president of her own company someday. Kelsey is also very
personable. On all her performance reviews, she received extra-high scores on sociability and human
relations. There isn’t a supervisor in the company who doesn’t have positive things to say about how
comfortable it is to work with Kelsey. Since joining GLF, Kelsey has been instrumental in bringing two
new product lines to market.
Thomas Santiago, the third candidate, has been with GLF for 10 years and is often consulted by upper
management regarding strategic planning and corporate direction setting. Thomas has been very
involved in establishing the vision for GLF and is a company person all the way. He believes in the
values of GLF, and actively promotes its mission. The two qualities that stand out above the rest in
Thomas’s performance reviews are his honesty and integrity. Employees who have worked under his
supervision consistently report that they feel they can trust Thomas to be fair and consistent. Thomas is
highly respected at GLF. In his tenure at the company, Thomas has been involved in some capacity with
the development of three new product lines.
The challenge confronting Sandra is to choose the best person for the newly established director’s
position. Because of the pressure she feels from upper management, Sandra knows she must select
the best leader for the new position.
Questions
1. Based on the information provided about the trait approach in Tables 2.1 and 2.2, if you were
Sandra, whom would you select?
2. In what ways is the trait approach helpful in this type of selection?
3. In what ways are the weaknesses of the trait approach highlighted in this case?

Project Charter Guidelines
1. Overview of the Project
Provide a simple but precise statement of the project.
Example 1: Yorkville University is planning to create a store to sell computer supplies at New West Campus.
2. Purpose of the Project Charter
This Project Charter outlines the purpose, objectives, and scope of the project. The purpose of a Project Charter is:
• to provide an understanding of the project, the reason it is being conducted and its justification
• to establish early on in the project the general scope
• to establish the project manager and his or her authority level assign duties to team member
A note of who will review and approve the Project Charter needs to be included. In this case it will be your Professor.
Example 2: The Project Charter will be reviewed by the project team and approved. The final approval will be the Campus Director, BC Campus.
3. Project Objective and Scope Objective
The objective of the project should “clearly stated” and contain a “measure” of how to assess whether they have been achieved. It should be realistic and include the objectives. It should follow the SMART protocol:
• Specific (get into the details)
• Measurable (use quantitative language so that you know when you are finished)
• Acceptable (to stakeholders)
• Realistic (given project constraints)
• Time based (deadlines, not durations)
Example 3: The objective of this project is to implement a campus store that is ready to sell computer supplies such as memory sticks, mouse pads, cables, etc. when class starts in Fall 2019, with enough inventory to last through the first two weeks of classes.
4. Scope
The scope of the project should be listed.
Example 4: The scope of the Yorkville University supplies store project includes the activities listed below:
• determine what supplies will be sold in the store
• establish competitive prices for the computer supplies
• source and secure supply vendors
• establish marketing, procurement, operations and any other necessary departments, schools, centers and institutes.
It is equally important to include in the scope what is not included in the project.
Example 5: The scope of the project does not include: development of any other school store departments or store design or construction.
5. Major Milestones
A list of the milestones that are needed.
Example 6:
• All vendors selected
• Contracts or orders complete with all vendors
• Supplies delivered to the store
• Pricing determined
6. Major Deliverables (using Gantt Chart)
Present a list of the major deliverables that will result from the project are described.
Example 7:
• Procurement of supplies
• Establishment of operations, procurement, marketing and other teams
• Store supplies stocked and displayed
• Store staffing completed, including work schedules
• Establishment of store operations policies, including hours of operation
Note: Gantt Chart use is a requirement
7. Assumptions
The assumptions in creating the project are to be outlined.
Example 8:
Only computer supplies will be sold in the store.
Supplies customers will be the Yorkville University student body and faculty
Yorkville University students will manage the project and be responsible for ongoing operations.
A store sponsor from the University faculty or staff will be assigned to mentor students and to provide oversight.
Store hours of operation will be approved by the Yorkville University students or store sponsor.
Supply deliveries will be arranged, or the store sponsor will pick them up with students.
Students will be empowered to contact vendors for order placement and inquiries via telephone.
8. Constraints
It is important to define any and all constraints on the project or those working on the project.
Example 9:
Student availability to meet for project planning is limited to school hours.
The Yorkville University Student Association will be responsible for the creation and operation of the store.
Software is not available for project planning and control.
9. Business Need or Opportunity
Provide a concise statement of the business need or opportunity that led to the creation of the project.
Example 10:
The goal of this project is to provide income for the Yorkville Student Center while supplying necessary items to students and faculty at competitive prices. The school store will be a convenience to students since necessary supplies will be available On-Campus. This will help students to learn to manage their personal supplies.
10. Preliminary Cost for the Project
A statement is to be provided indicating how the cost of the project will be defined and controlled.
Example 11:
The procurement team will assemble a proposal based on expected costs for review by the Dean of Business.
11. Project Charter Acceptance
The names, titles, and signature lines of the individuals who will sign-off on the Project Charter.

This assignment requires each student to read and review the various assigned readings (articles, book chapters, etc.) per
class session and write a synopsis of the readings. The rationale for this type of assignment is to promote conceptual
understanding, critical thinking, and practical application. A good synopsis encompasses an overview and synthesis of the
key concepts, themes, and/or issues in the readings and an explication of those key concepts and/or issues. A logical
presentation of the concepts and/or issues is expected. Each synopsis should end with some implications/applications for
policy and practice in a local, state, or national context. Basically, the structure should consist of an overview paragraph
that embraces all the themes and concepts in the readings. The subsequent paragraphs will expatiate on the identified
themes and concepts (synthesis is key). There should be a concluding paragraph that summarizes your take on the
readings, and it should be followed by another paragraph-which is implications/applications to a local, state, national
and/or international context(s).
