Purpose:This assignment will help you to:• chart the course of your argument and develop the sequence in which your supporting elements are explored.
• integrate research from the sources in the Annotated Bibliography where they will best support your argument.
• identify areas that need additional support. You can utilize your work from our Week 2 Discussion. Make sure to revise and incorporate some of the useful feedback that you received.
Task:Create three outlines by following these steps:
Include a strong thesis statement that reveals your argument and your three supporting elements. For example: Active reading should be a primary method of learning because it supports strong communication skills in the workplace, enhances EFL learner’s transition from the native language to the adopted one, and promotes a tangible experience not found in social media engagement.
Craft a topic outline that includes your working thesis and a bulleted list of your three supporting elements.
Craft a sentence outline that includes the working thesis and the three topic sentences.
Craft a paragraph outline that includes the working thesis statement and three substantive body paragraphs. These will become the major sections of your final paper. Within the final paper, you will further expand on these ideas. Each paragraph should open with a topic sentence. A topic sentence delves into one of the supporting elements listed in the thesis. It is a declarative statement that prepares the reader for the ideas explored in the coming paragraphs. In the outline format that you will follow, each of the first sentences in the paragraphs is the topic sentence. Notice how it further expands each of the supporting elements. For example:  Reading is beneficial because it supports strong communication skills, which is necessary for anyone seeking employment.
Integrate research into each paragraph. Utilize a paraphrase within two paragraphs and a short-burst integrated quotation within one. When integrating a quotation, make sure to provide context for the quotation. Explain what the quotation reveals, proves, disproves, or elucidates. How does this quotation impact the argument? What hole in the research does it fill?
Insert APA in-text citations whenever research is utilized in the outline and include APA references at the end of the outline.
Begin the second and third paragraphs with a transitional phrase. Review the transitions resources in the Week 3 Learning Module. For example:  Beyond offering strong communication skills, more specifically, reading can also provide the necessary tools for English language learners to learn how to transition to and effectively use the English language.
A good outline should also indicate alternate points of view, such as other solutions, other causes, or other effects. Dedicate some time to considering counterarguments. How can you disprove them?
Review the rubric for this assignment.

Task:
Use the Readings listed above to craft two original introductions.
After each introduction, identify which type of introduction you tried to craft (i.e. analogy, statistics, drawing a contrast etc.) and your thoughts about it.
Note: Introductions to formal research papers at the senior level do NOT need to be just one paragraph. However, the thesis should be the final sentence in the introduction.
Post your two original introductions and the commentary on each in this discussion thread.
Reply to at least two peers’ introductions. Comment on which introduction you prefer and why. Offer insights as to how to strengthen the introduction.

Discussion Thread: Loving and Hating the Bluebook
Over the course of the past few weeks (and hopefully during your other courses) you have been introduced to the legal citation method known as The Bluebook. If you are anything like most of us in the legal world you love and hate it! Providing a source not just to give credit, but to also lend authority to your argument is essential. However, there are some arguments for a different, more streamlined method. This module/week, you will be reading an article written by Judge Richard A. Posner Judge Posner is a vocal critic of The Bluebook. Read Judge Posner’s article, and respond to the following questions: 1. What are Posner’s strongest arguments? What are his weakest? 2. If presented with the opportunity to draft your own legal citation method, what aspects of The Bluebook method should be eliminated and what aspects should be incorporated? 3. What aspects of The Bluebook fit with the Christian worldview?
The discussion post must be 400 to 600 words, you
must support your assertions with at least 1 scholarly citation in the Bluebook citation format. The scholarly citation must be real and verifiable online. Here is the article link:

Discussion post 2
Discussion Thread: Bioethical Considerations in Patent Law
Explain the facts, holding, and rationale of the U.S. Supreme Court case of Diamond v. Chakrabarty and explain whether you agree or disagree with the decision from both legal and moral perspectives. Be sure to discuss whether the decision is consistent with a Biblical worldview, and more broadly discuss the moral implications of patent protection for the subject matter at issue in the case.
Must be at least 300 words, you must support your assertions with at least 3 scholarly
citations in current Bluebook format. Acceptable sources include the Bible. They must be real and verifiable.
Discussion Post 3
Discussion Thread: The Bill of Rights
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania passes a law requiring all children to be vaccinated for Hepatitis B before the age of five. Jonas and Jennifer Yoder are members of the Amish faith. They have three children over the age of five whom they have refused to vaccinate based on their religious beliefs. Specifically, the Yoders believe that vaccinating their children would be equivalent to placing their faith in man over their faith in God, which would violate the First Commandment; “You shall have no other Gods before Me.”
The Yoders have sued Pennsylvania seeking to overturn the law as a violation of the Free Exercise of Religion contained in the First Amendment. Based on current judicial understanding of the Free Exercise Clause, explain whether the court should rule in the Yoders’ favor?
Must be between 300 to 600 words. You must support your assertions with at least 3 scholarly sources in
Bluebook format. They must be real and verifiable.

BRIEF: ROUGH DRAFT ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS
OVERVIEW
So far in this course, all assignments have focused on an objective view of the facts and cases.
You have read and drafted case briefs that have objectively examined the facts and law of a case.
Then, you drafted an objective, predictive office memo. Now, we are going to switch gears from
being an objective observer to being an advocate. You will continue with the same cases with
which you have been working for this assignment. Nothing about the law will be changing. The
only change you will be making is switching from objective to persuasive writing for a client.
A brief, contrary to its description, is not brief at all. It is a persuasive argument presented to a
court. Briefs are filed by the attorneys, generally in an appellate court. The brief outlines and
explains the issues, facts, law, and analysis that the court will need to perform. However, each
side will file a brief with the court that takes all of this information and presents it in a persuasive
manner.
The great news is that you have already done a lot of hard work(SEE ATTACHED PREDICTIVE MEMO PRIOR WORK). You have read and briefed all of
the cases that you will use for this assignment. You have even drafted a discussion section with
all four of the rule explanation paragraphs you need. However, now you are going to switch from
being objective to being persuasive. For the brief, you will use the same information but will
become an advocate for your client. At this point, you have already examined the law. Thus,
your focus now should be on crafting logical and reasoned arguments for your client.
INSTRUCTIONS
Follow the format that has been included in the prompt (SEE ATTACHED-JONES BRIEF PROMPT)J provided by your
professor. This includes the headings and sections. Make sure your brief is:
 3 to 5 pages in length.
 Does not include a cover page or running heads.
 Single-spaced, Times New Roman, 12-point font
 Uses the same four rule explanation paragraphs as your memo. However, make sure to
incorporate the feedback provided by your professor in the memo.
o Two rule explanation paragraphs in the first section of the argument.
o Two rule explanation paragraphs in the second section of the argument.
 Includes two rule application paragraphs
o One rule application paragraph at the end of the first section of the argument.
o One rule application paragraph at the end of the second section of the argument.
 Cite cases using the Bluebook in-text citation method
 Only the four assigned cases should be used – no outside sources. Here are the cases:
1-Derby v. Derby, 378 S.E.2d 74 (Va. Ct. App. 1989)
2-Galloway v. Galloway, 622 S.E.2d 267 (Va. Ct. App. 2005)
3-Sims v. Sims, 55 Va. App. 340 (2009)
4-Chaplain v. Chaplain, 682 S.E. 2d 108 (Va. Ct. App. 2009).
Note: Your assignment will be checked for originality via the Turnitin plagiarism tool.
DO NOT USE AI TO WRITE THIS, IT MUST BE WRITTEN BY A HUMAN, I WILL CHECK. TURNITIN WILL CHECK AS WELL.
