Purpose
This project gives you an opportunity to apply theories and models, identify barriers to change, and propose appropriate change interventions. You must complete this assignment individually, without contacting other students, and you may not use a paper or any part of a paper from a previous class or from another person. If you have questions about this assignment, please post them in the Ask the Professor discussion forum so that everyone can benefit from the answers.
Throughout this course, we have discussed a number of organizational development and change theories and concepts throughout this semester. You will incorporate some of those theories in your final paper, showcasing your ability to apply organizational development principles.
Task
Use what you have learned in this course to develop an 8-10 page change process proposal (excluding cover and reference pages) for your organization. Assume that you will submit this proposal to the organization for implementation.
For this proposal, identify a problem area of your current organization (or one in which you have previously worked) that you believe warrants a change initiative. In your opinion, what restraining forces are blocking implementation of a change program? From an internal OD practitioner perspective, what recommendations can you make to overcome these barriers?
You should apply ideas, concepts, theories, and practices set out in the course materials as appropriate to the specific organization that you have selected. Ensure proper format for citations, quotations, and references, and use at least eight scholarly resources that are dated within the last five years. You are strongly encouraged to use the required and reserved readings in this course, as well as peer-reviewed journal articles found through the UMUC library.
Your paper should include the following:
2 pages: Introduction
What is the organization and how did you select it? What is your relationship with the organization? Using a systems perspective, include key organizational facts, and information on the organization’s culture that would be helpful in this context. Identify the organizational issue in need of change.
3 pages: Need for Change
Describe the change that needs to take place and discuss internal and external forces that represent obstacles to the change, supporting your opinion with appropriate citations. Describe the various kinds of data you would need to gather to confirm your diagnosis. Consider the level of analysis (organization, group, or individual job) that should be applied to this situation.
3-4 pages: Proposed Solution
Create recommendations for a proposed solution.
Identify an effective intervention. What forces could be harnessed to promote the change? Who should be included in the solution’s implementation?
1-2 pages: Evaluation
Identify factors considered for success. Consider additional approaches. Identify the steps to implement the recommended solution.
Identify possible resistance to change and assess how leaders and the knowledge of emotional intelligence can make a positive impact.
Be sure to present your findings objectively, using data and other research-based content/sources to support your work.

Project Introduction
In this unit, we discussed the ideas of performance management. On page, 237 the text discusses different approaches to employee development. I think employee development is one of the most important parts of being an HR manager. I know as an employee I was always looking for ways to move up in the company and I strived for development in the workplace. There were companies who would appreciate this desire and there are others that would not do anything pertaining to development. In the “Approaches to Employee Development” the authors discuss these different approaches that we can use.
Project Directions
A. For the first part of the entry, create two or three paragraphs discussing the types of development strategies you would use as an HR manager. Which items would you not use and why? For instance, flexible hours…would you allow employees all over the organization to work different hours or are you set on everyone working a 9-5? Would you let employees rotate jobs? Provide solid critical analysis of these strategies.
B. The next part of the chapter talks about “Development-Related Challenges.” On page 260 the Thinking Ethically case study brings up a great thought. They provide the question if employers should tell employees that they have high potential. For the final portion of this assignment, discuss the two questions at the end of the case study. Please provide your insights with 3 to 5 paragraphs, but more is welcomed.
Project Conclusion
Have fun with this assignment as it is a realistic approach to HR management in today’s society. I have attached the paper writing rubric for you to review. You do not have to use APA formatting unless you utilize sources in your discussion. The assignment is worth 50 points. This project will address SLO 6 and CLO 1.

For this activity, you will complete the assessment described on page 263, the self-assessment exercise. The direct link to the assessment is here: https://profile.keirsey.com/#/b2c/assessment/start
If you have never taken this assessment, it will result in one of the four temperaments: artisan, guardian, idealist, or rational. Just by looking at those four items, how many of you already know which one you will be?
Once you have completed the assessment and know your temperaments, answer the following questions in a Word document and submit them.
1. What were your results and what did you learn about yourself?
2. As an HR manager, how do you think this assessment could be useful for employee development?
3. How would you use the assessment if you were your company’s HR manager?
4. What are some disadvantages to using this assessment.
Please upload your entry via a Word document and the assignment is worth 50 points. Have fun and let’s see your thoughts on how we can use the Keirsey in HR development. This project will address SLO 6 and CLO 1.

Project Information
Chapter seven has provided a lot of information discussing effective training programs in the workplace. You have been hired by Willoughby Enterprises to conduct a training session to 100 local HR managers on how to create an effective training program. This project will address SLO 1, SLO 5, and CLO 1.
Project Requirements
Your task is to create a presentation that you would present to the HR managers and submit it to CEO Willoughby to approve before you give the presentation at the HR conference. I have attached the PowerPoint Presentation rubric as it will demonstrate how the presentation will be graded. You can use PowerPoint or any other presentation software. This assignment is worth 50 points. There is no minimum count on slides, but do keep in mind that 60% of the grade is based on the content that has been provided in the presentation.
