When was the last time you read Meditation XVII of John Donne’s Devotions Upon Emergent Occasions?
Unless you are a student of seventeenth-century poetry, you may not be all that familiar with this piece. However, you may be much more familiar with one of its well-known phrases: “No man is an island…”.
As you begin your journey toward achieving your academic and professional goals, you have a great opportunity to network with academics and professionals who can help ensure you do not travel alone. This network can help to clarify your own vision for success and can help guide you now and in the future. To paraphrase Donne, no one is an island.

Complete Part 1 of your Academic Success and Professional Development Plan Template. Be sure to address the following:
Identify at least two academic and at least two professional individuals or teams to collaborate with to be successful in your MSN program and as a practicing nurse.
Explain why you selected these individuals and/or teams and how they will support your success in the MSN and PMC program and as a practicing nurse.
Submit Part 1 of your Academic Success and Professional Development Plan Template.

For this assessment, you will develop a Word document or an online resource repository of at least 12 annotated professional or scholarly resources that you consider critical for the audience of your safety improvement plan to understand or implement to ensure the success of the plan.
Using Google Sites, assemble an online resource tool kit containing at least 12 annotated resources that you consider critical to the success of your safety improvement initiative. These resources should enable nurses and others to implement and maintain the safety improvement you have developed.
It is recommended that you focus on the 3 or 4 most critical categories or themes with respect to your safety improvement initiative. For example, for an initiative that concerns improving workplace safety for practitioners, you might choose broad themes such as general organizational safety and quality best practices; environmental safety and quality risks; individual strategies to improve personal and team safety; and process best practices for reporting and improving environmental safety issues.
Following the recommended scheme, you would collect 3 resources on average for each of the 4 categories focusing on a specific patient safety issue. Each resource listing should include the following:
An APA-formatted citation of the resource with a working link.
A description of the information, skills, or tools provided by the resource.
A brief explanation of how the resource can help nurses better understand or implement the safety improvement initiative pertaining to a specific patient safety issue.
A description of how nurses can use this resource and when its use may be appropriate.

This article presents the Geriatric Emergency Management-Falls Intervention Team (GEM-FIT) project. It shows how a collaborative nurse lead project can be implemented and used to improve collaboration and interdisciplinary teamwork, as well as improve the delivery of health care services. This resource is likely more useful to nurses as a resource for strategies and models for assembling and participating in an interdisciplinary team than for specific fall-prevention strategies. It is suggested that this resource be reviewed prior to creating an interdisciplinary team for a collaborative project in a health care setting.
Additionally, be sure that your plan addresses the following, which corresponds to the grading criteria in the scoring guide. Please study the scoring guide carefully so you understand what is needed for a distinguished score.

Describe a team building activity you have been part of. Do you feel as though it accomplished a sense of belonging?  If so, what make it effective? If not, why.
Belbin’s team roles: describe a team you have been part of, or observed, where have you seen roles emerge?  What roles did you see? Did you observe a correlation between workplace strengths or roles, gender, and/or ethnicity as part of the roles. How so?

Trust: discuss how you have seen trust impact the effectiveness of a team, specifically, how have you seen someone build trust within a group?

For instance: think of an episode of, say, Seinfield (the relationships in Seinfield are a group and not a team but for now, let’s overlook this distinction) where social loafing is evident. Locate an article that explains social loafing (maybe in Psychology Today). Then link the chapter, article, and episode to illustrate the causes, how to identify, and how to correct social loafing in terms of social loafing.

How can you use research to develop evidence-based approaches to patient care? How can research findings be used to improve the quality of services provided at a healthcare facility?  
As healthcare continues to evolve, nurses play a critical role in applying clinical research to evidence-based practice and quality improvement in nursing. By leveraging clinical research, nurses can identify gaps in their practice, develop strategies to improve patient outcomes and enhance the overall quality of care. This involves critically evaluating existing research, identifying best practices, and developing proposals for improvement in quality and safety of patient care. 
For this Assignment, you apply clinical research to evidence-based practice and quality improvement in nursing and develop proposals for improvement in quality and safety of patient care in nursing practice. 
To prepare:
Review the Learning Resources for this Module and reflect on how the application of research findings contributes to evidence-based practice.

Select one issue that pertains to quality or safety in nursing. The issue may be pertinent to your current place of employment or a hypothetical situation in a healthcare organization.

What is the difference between research and evidence-based practice? How might one affect the other?  
Research and evidence-based practice are interconnected in nursing. Nursing research generates new knowledge, which can then be applied in evidence-based practice to guide clinical decision-making and improve patient outcomes.

What is theory, and how does it shape research? Most research is based on a theoretical framework. Theoretical frameworks, also known as “conceptual frameworks” or “models,” are used in nursing research to provide a structure for organizing and understanding the research problem and to guide the research design and analysis.
