Students will analyze a case study from this website and explain what the solution would be for someone using deontology and care ethics. Student will also explain what their preferred ethical solution would be using whatever ethical framework they prefer. The purpose of this assignment is for students to apply these ethical theories to a case and for the student to consider their own views on ethical questions, and critique other ethical frameworks.
Process: Students should consider doing the following:
1. Explain briefly (no more than a few sentences) the moral dilemma of the case study: what is the problem and who must decide what to do between what options. You can discuss what the character actually chose to do (if that is mentioned in the case study) but that isn’t the focus of this assignment. This part of your paper should be no more than a paragraph. If it is anything more than that you will likely not do well on this assignment.
2. Explain what either the character in the case study or someone in this position would do if they were following Kant’s version of deontology, and then explain what choice that person would make if they were following care ethics. This means students need to show how the character would employ the Principle of Humanity or the Categorical Imperative when explaining what a deontologist would use. Do not just assume that a maxim is going to be universalizable just because it is a widely accepted moral practice. Show there’s no contradiction or that the opposite of the maxim produces a contradiction.
3. Consider the obligations and limitations of care when explaining what a care ethicist would do.
4. Explain what your preferred ethical solution would be. If you think it is either the solution the deontologist or care ethicist would pick, then explain why that solution appeals to you. Give reasons for why it’s better than the other solutions available. If it is a different solution, then explain what moral principle you’re appealing to and why it’s better than the solutions the deontologist and care ethicist would have preferred.
5. Be sure to cite your sources including lecture notes and course readings. If you had to look something up then you have to cite.
You do not need a formal introduction or conclusion. Get to the point and finish by explaining what you did and why. You must choose to do what the utilitarian would do if you want full points.
Avoid:
Be sure to avoid the following:
Do not give a summary of the entire case study. Stick to what I’m asking you to do.
Avoid using outside sources other than the story you choice. There are a lot of different versions of utilitarian philosophy and different ways people talk about rights. I am asking you to use the specific theories we learned about in the course. If you don’t understand the lecture notes or readings, this is a good opportunity to email me about it. If you use outside materials you will lose points.
Absolutely no generative AI tools. No chat GPT or anything like it. Any use of it will automatically result in a zero for the assignment.
Other details: This assignment should be about 1,500-2,000 words long. Do not go over the word limit. Be sure that it is written in 12-point Times New Roman font, and double spaced.

I am uploading the case study.
This assignment aims to help students become more familiar with the ACA Code of Ethics and start thinking about how this information applies to their professional identities. Each student will review the ACA Code of Ethics focusing on professional values, fundamental principles, its purposes, and the information that can be found in each section. Each student will identify a corresponding ethical issue that would prompt referring to each of the sections.
Review the ACA (2014) Code of Ethics and address the following:
1. Explain/summarize the core professional values in own words and then identify how they impact own professional identity.
2. Explain/summarize the fundamental principles of professional, ethical behavior in own words and identify how they impact own professional identity.
3. Identify one main purpose of the ACA Code of Ethics in own words and identify why this is important.
4. Briefly summarize each of the nine sections in own words, identifying what information can be found in each section. Then, provide a specific example of an ethical issue that would require review of such specific section.
Other Considerations:
· Structure paper with APA headings based upon the criteria above. No other sources other than the Code of Ethics should be used. Think of this paper as an abbreviated guide to the Code of Ethics, which can serve as a brief reference. · APA style and format count. · Introduction and conclusion paragraphs needed. · Five pages min/seven pages max. Title page and reference page needed. These are not considered in page count. · Do not include an abstract. · Review rubric to help ensure you have met the requirements. · Review Writing Expectations to help ensure you have met these, as well.

In your paper evaluate one of the arguments for or against abortion presented by either Judith Thomson, Don Marquis, Mary Anne Warren. Be sure to reconstruct the original argument (from its original source);
articulate at least one objection to the argument;
offer a response and solution to the objection you pose;
evaluate whether or not the solution you discuss is successful in combating objection.
Be sure to properly cite all of your information within the body of your paper.

This reflection assignment should be 400-500 words with at least one separate question you had over the readings that either confused you or a theory or argument you think you can raise a potential objection to. In raising your question, you should articulate clearly what specifically it is that you do and do not understand about the concept, argument, or theory. This is an opportunity to get feed back and clarification.
This assignment is designed for you to reflect on what we have read and begin to articulate your own thoughts. It is also a way of practicing good writing skills in preparation for your final paper.
Importantly, I am NOT asking you to summarize and regurgitate what you have read.
Chapters 1 through 6 – can be any topic in these readings. ONLY THE TEXTBOOK CAN BE USED AS A SOURCE. “Doing Ethics – Moral Reasoning, Theory, and Contemporary Issues, Sixth Edition, by Lewis Vaughn.

Greater Good Analysis
For this week′s assignment respond to one of the following options, and include Option 1, 2, or 3 as part of your heading.
Option 1: The first option is to name and describe in detail a key specific and recent healthcare technology. What are at least two key moral problems this technology creates? What are the proper moral guidelines for dealing with it in your view? Compare your approach to what a utilitarian and ethical egoist would say (each independently). Consider whether differing ethical beliefs globally might or not agree with what you say.
Option 2: In the second option, name and describe in detail a key specific and recent social technology. What are at least two key moral problems this technology creates? What are the proper moral guidelines for dealing with it in your view? Compare your moral approach to what a utilitarian and social contract ethicist would say (each independently). Consider whether differing ethical beliefs globally might or not agree with what you say.
Option 3: John Doe, Patient One, is in late stage of kidney disease. If he does not receive a new kidney, then he is predicted to die within a week. Doe is 45, single, and has no children. Doctors theorize that Doe damaged his kidney by not following a low-salt diet. Doe inherited one million dollars and is known for giving money to charity. Without a transplant, he will probably be forced to spend all his money searching for a kidney outside of the usual legal channels. Patient Two is Jane Doe (no relation to John). Patient Two is a mother of two children (ages 21 and 24). She is divorced and 55 years old. She developed kidney problems due to eating a high-fat and high-sugar diet. If she does not receive a kidney within one month, doctors believe she will die. Patient Three is an orphan. This orphan lives in a state facility. She was born with a genetic condition that constantly damages her kidney. The only known approach to her condition is to provide her with a kidney transplant every so often. She is 11 and has already undergone two kidney transplants. She will perish in two months if she does not receive another transplant.
All three patients are at the same hospital. The hospital only has one kidney to give out. The orphan′s birth parents were known to be of a religion that is opposed to organ donation. The other patients come from religions that do not oppose organ donation. Who should get the kidney? Why should that candidate receive it over the others? Devise a course of social action and a solution for this case by using the ethics of egoism and then utilitarianism to a key moral conflict involving health care in this case. Appraise the interests of diverse populations (in terms of ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, etc.) and how they relate to the case. Consider whether differing ethical beliefs globally might or not agree with what you say.
For all the options:
Cite the textbook and incorporate outside sources, including citations.
You should not be using any text you used in a discussion board or assignment for this class or any previous class.
Consider whether differing ethical beliefs globally might or not agree with what you say.
You will submit the following:
An audiovisual presentation that presents one of the options above. Be sure to give equal time to each element. Doing a PowerPoint presentation with audio recorded on the slides is preferred. Please refer to the Narrated PowerPoint Tutorial located in the Required Resources in this assignment.
Please provide a transсrіpt of anything said in the recording aloud that does not appear as text on a slide. This transсrіpt can be provided as a Word document or placed in the Notes section on the PowerPoint slides.
The link or a scan of the article mentioning any health technology, social technology, or case you are reporting on. If you made up the case, please indicate that in your report. If you choose to do option #3 (the case about a shortage of transplant kidneys), your article would likely be an article about the shortage of transplant organs, or a shortage of people signing up to be transplant donors, or the status of educating people about being donors, etc.
Requirements
Length: 4-6 minutes narrated presentation
Slide length: 4-6 slides (not including title slide, conclusion slide, or references slide)
Title slide
Conclusion slide
References slide (minimum of 2 scholarly sources cited in APA format; not narrated)

Introduction and Alignment
The United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) investigates charges of discrimination in the workplace and enforces federal laws that make it illegal to discriminate against individuals based on their “race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, transgender status, and sexual orientation), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information” (“EEOC Overview”, n.d.). The EEOC Newsroom provides an overview of litigation cases, research, and statistics. Reviewing the discrimination lawsuits provides evidence that continued disparate treatment occurs and validates the need for diversity efforts.
Upon completion of this assignment, you should be able to:
Examine recent EEOC litigation involving minoritized groups.
Resources
Use for Sources: EEOC Newsroom for recent press releases related to discrimination lawsuits
