This assignment is the first step in a three part project. You only need to focus on part one at this point. Each step will build on earlier steps. However, it is not a matter of providing a rough draft of all or even part of the entire project here in week three. That is, further steps might require completely new and original text. At the same time, completing each step will aid you in completing a future step or future steps. And, you should use the same topic in all steps.
First, select a topic of moral controversy, debate, disagreement, and dispute, Examples of such topics are euthanasia, the death penalty, abortion, cloning, etc. You can pick any such topic. It need not be listed here.
Next, detail the positions of each side of the ethical debate. Note at least two moral reasons each side presents to show their view on the topic is correct.
Now, we want to evaluate these positions using the moral theories we studied this week:
What would an Ethical Egoist say about this topic? What side would the Ethical Egoist take? What would the Ethical Egoist say to justify their moral position? Is there a conflict between loyalty to self and to community relevant to your topic? If so, how so? Note what you feel is the best course of action.
What would a Social Contract Ethicist say about this topic? What side would the Social Contract Ethicist take? What would the Social Contract Ethicist say to justify their moral position? Does your topic involve a collision between personal obligations and national ones? If so, how so? Note what you feel is the best course of action.
Finally, reference and discuss any professional code of ethics relevant to your topic such as the AMA code for doctors, the ANA code for nurses, or any other pertinent professional code. State whether and how your chosen topic involves any conflicts between professional and familial duties.
Cite the textbook and incorporate outside sources, including citations.
Requirements
Length: 3-4pages (not including title page or references page)

In many societies today, Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) face a lack of access

In many societies today, Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) face a lack of access to good quality education opportunities primarily because these societies do not have adequate resources that can enable their PwDs to gain better access to good quality education opportunities. Do you agree with this statement? You may refer to specific countries and case studies in your response. Support your arguments with relevant examples. In presenting your arguments, refer to utilitarian prinicple. I have attached my draft but is okay to cancel anything that you think is not good. this essay should not be more than 500 words long and should include references and a bibliography for each example used. AI is strongly not encouraged to generate ideas. The APA referencing style must be used. (i can attached my assignment details in the next file -A1 poster)

Over the past decade, there have been several protests within the US aimed at different perceived problems in society.
Three protests include:
Black Lives Matter (official and unofficial), protesting perceived injustices for black youths vis-à-vis the police.
Occupy Wall Street, a 2011-2012 movement protesting the growing inequality between the rich (the so-called 1%) and the other 99% of the population.
The March for Life, an annual rally held in Washington D.C. aimed at protesting legal abortion in the United States.
“The Freedom Convoy, which consisted of a series of protests and road blockages by truckers in the US and Canada aimed at protesting COVID-19 restrictions.
Choose one of these three recent cases of civil disobedience and evaluate it in 2-4 paragraphs. What was the point? Was that point legitimate? What were the methods used and were they legitimate? Were they effective in changing either perception or legislation on their issue?
Most importantly, what are the job and employment criticisms that are part of the agenda of the protest you have chosen? What working issues are part of their platform?

One of the most controversial current proposals in the debate on growing wealth

One of the most controversial current proposals in the debate on growing wealth disparity is Universal Basic Income UBI.
The idea of UBI is that the government writes a flat check to each of its nation’s citizens every year as a kind of dividend for living in society. It’s like partial welfare for all.
Generally, there are two theories as to how to use UBI, and they are not necessarily mutually supportive.
One theory is that UBI will be a necessity in the future as the automation of the workplace reduces the number of living wage jobs below the number of qualified workers. In this scenario, roboticization simply takes over too many functions, and the means of production become so efficient, that the economy has access to far more quality workers than are needed to fulfill all of the jobs. Therefore, we will need to find some way to keep a significant percentage of our population out of abject poverty.
Another theory of UBI does not see it as income for a future massive unemployment crisis, but rather as a substitute for the modern welfare and social security state. Essentially, in this version of UBI, everyone would be given a set amount of money, but that money would replace current government distribution programs such as Medicaid, Social Security, or any kind of Universal Health Care program. In this way, citizens are given something of a block grant, but it is their responsibility to use it in the best way for their interests.
I will give some links to begin reading about UBI, but you also need to do your research to flesh out your understanding of the theory, its drawbacks, its rationales, and its uses. Choose an issue. Look up at least 3 articles about the movement.
This assignment will go into 3 parts:
Does UBI work, in any possible way, with our social contract? Notice that you will need to explain and defend your understanding of the American social contract. If it can work in some ways with our social contract (perhaps one of the two theories are ok within our social contract, or both, or some other application not being popularly argued) then explain how it would do so.
Is UBI – whether you like it or not – the best solution for either future automation-related unemployment or social programs? If not, what are better alternatives?
Finally , I want you to focus on an ethical issue in the work field IT Define the issue and evaluate the effect that adoption of UBI might have on that issue if it were to become law. Some suggested issues might be poverty and crime, universal health care vs private health insurance, the impact of automation (notice that many high-end tech people are supporting this idea!), or corporate responsibility. But feel free to choose topics that you find more interesting if you wish. You can find some topics with information here: www.procon.org

In our first written assignment you were asked to present arguments in support

In our first written assignment you were asked to present arguments in support of positions on an ethical issue. We will continue with that same issue in this paper and will add ethical theory to that reasoning. Ethical theory is useful for providing support for the ethical principles used as the basis in ethical reasoning. This paper works on adding that dimension of ethical reasoning by connecting ethical theory to the arguments (or variations on them) developed in the first written assignment. (You may use only deontology and utilitarianism as the ethical theories.)
No additional sources are needed for this paper, but it’s a good idea to do a bit of research in scholarly, peer-reviewed journals through our school library since two of these will be required on the final paper.
You must use either MLA or APA formatting for this paper. The total number of words should be about 500 to 750, which is two to three pages.
Outline of paper:
1. Introduction and Formulation of Ethical Question
2. Position Statement
3. Explanation of Ethical Theory
4. Application of Ethical Theory in support of the position statement
5. Opposing Position Statement
6. Explanation of Ethical Theory
7. Application of Ethical Theory in support of the opposing position statement
Elaboration on outline:
1. The section should be a somewhat revised or developed version of the Introduction from Written Assignment #1. (Approx. 50-100 words)
2. The position statement should be the same or modified based on your further reflection or comments from the instructor on your Written Assignment #1. (Approx. 10-20 words)
3. In this section, please select from Kant’s deontology or Mill’s utilitarianism based on which theory best supports the arguments from this side of the debate, and provide a brief overview of that ethical theory, including it’s main principles and how they can be applied to an ethical question. Apply that issue very simply to an ethical question that differs from the one you are using in your assignments, e.g, whether it is appropriate to lie in order to get what one wants. (Approx. 100-150 words)
4. Apply the ethical theory you have summarized to your issue and show how it can be used to support the position statement. (Approx. 50-100 words)
5. This section should be like section 2., but articulate the other side of the issue. (Approx. 10-20 words)
6. Please select that ethical theory (either Kant’s or Mill’s) that can best be used to support the opposing position statement. If the same ethical theory is the one that can best be used to support both position statements, then skip this section of the outline and go on to the final section. (Approx. 100-150 words)
7. This section should be like section 4., but should apply ethical theory in support of the opposing side of the issue. (Approx. 50-100 words)

Assignment Instructions:
Choose one contested development in the history of your profession or field of study (Electrical Engineering Industry) and based on research and complete the worksheet.
Please keep in mind there must be some ethical conundrum addressed. However, for this “case study,” there does not need to be a particular story or article and the resources you gather might be for background information. For example, much has been made over Elon Musk’s interpretation of the right to free speech. But since STEM includes Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, you are free to focus on any conundrum or dilemma from any of those areas. As a reminder, if you cannot apply your moral compass to defend your position on the topic, you need to rethink your subject.
For this case study, again be sure to apply a detailed ethical system to the selected case. Consider at least three specific aspects of an ethical rationale (e.g. utilitarianism, moral relativism, contractarianism, etc.) for your discussion of whether the instance is moral and your discussion of leadership recommendations.
