Hello Everyone! My thesis is that homelessness in teens is a crisis in the city of Boston and city leaders can change this by creating more methadone clinics, making it easier for a young person who is trying to afford rent find a place that is affordable by creating more section eight apartments instead of luxury condominiums and to help find young teens who are showing up to the emergency room with clear signs of mental heath issues a way to cope with it on a day to day basis instead of letting themselves figure it out themselves. These issues affect multiple people because it is not only the young adults going through this but also their friends and family. The stakeholders would agree that it would be in everyone’s interest that the young adults are living in a home and that they are not struggling with substance abuse issues because it would improve the overall community and solve many issues that come with substance abuse issues and mental health issues. One of the many ideas I will use is that following a policy change, the number of homeless children and young adults who visited the emergency room had increased since there was change in housing regulations and in term they were going to the emergency room to find a place to sleep.( American Journal of Public Health, Aug2018)
Three search terms that I will use to help illustrate the common ground between stakeholders will be mental health, substance abuse and homelessness. These are terms that will definitely be using pathos because I will be trying to appeal to the emotions of the stakeholders and these words are terms that can easily be used to try to get feelings of empathy as well because it will be young children who need help and that it something that most people can feel some type of empathy for. What are you thoughts about young adults being homeless and what are some ways that we can prevent this from coming up as an issue in future?

Assignment
An effective understanding of economics forms the foundation of every manager, entrepreneur, bureaucrat, and leader’s ability to analyze business situations and develop an appropriate response. The globalization of business is a fact of life for all business professionals. One of the most contentious issues in today’s global business world is the issue of closing local manufacturing facilities, laying off those American workers, and re-opening the same manufacturing facilities in another country.
If you were to go back in time 150 years ago (the 1870s), the clothes you owned would have been manufactured in textile mills in the Northeast United States (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, etc.). By the early to mid-1950s, those Northeastern textile mills had closed, and their workers had lost their jobs. The mills had relocated to the Southeast during the years following the Civil War. By the 1970s, the majority of the clothes you owned would have been manufactured in textile mills in the Southeastern United States (Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, etc.). Now, those Southeastern textile mills are closed, and those workers lost their jobs. Today, people in the United States buy mostly foreign-made clothes.
Many people say that importing these foreign-made clothes should be banned so that more workers in American clothing textile mills could have jobs. Others say that we should continue to import clothing because imported clothing is relatively less expensive, and more people can afford to buy more clothes at these low prices. Still, others say that there should be an import tariff (an extra tax to be paid when you buy these imported clothes), making the price of imported clothing comparable to the price of clothing made in the U.S., and, therefore, encouraging American consumers to buy American-made clothing. Some of these perspectives do not account for how comparative advantage and opportunity costs contribute to mutual gains from trade.
Questions
1. How much does international trade affect you personally? Look at any 10 items around your home that you have purchased in the last year. Where were they made? How many were made in America, compared to how many were foreign made? What things does America export to other countries? What things does America import from other countries? Explain, in detail, how comparative advantage and opportunity costs contribute to the benefits of international trade.
2. What is a tariff? Who ultimately pays the tariff? Who gets the proceeds from the tariffs? What is the money used for? Discuss the advantages and disadvantages to all involved parties (American workers, American consumers, foreign workers, and foreign consumers) of tariffs on imports to the U.S. and retaliatory tariffs imposed by foreign countries on U.S. made goods.
3. In considering the foreign trade issue, discuss how the backgrounds, education, and cultures of the people in the U.S. and the cultures in each trading country affect their understanding of foreign trade’s importance. Discuss the importance of understanding and accepting multiple cultural differences in a global context. What are some of the possible negative impacts on international trade if we do not understand and respect cultural differences? What recommendations would you suggest to increase American understanding and acceptance of foreign cultures?
