There should be 3 essential parts in your review.
Part 1: Summary
In your own words, write a summary of the journal article. It should be 300-500 words long.
Address these questions in your introduction:
(a) Why did you choose this topic?
(b) Why is the topic important and relevant for interpersonal health communication?
(c) How the topic you’ve chosen can be helpful to extend the research on “the topic” itself? For example, if you chose “hospice care,” you have to argue why the journal article you’ve chosen will extend the research about “hospice care” or improve the practical field of “hospice care.”
(d) How the topic you’ve chosen can be helpful to extend the research of “health communication”?
Next, write a summary of the journal article in your body text. You should incorporate these points in your response –
(a) What do the researchers examine/explore?
(b) How do they design the study?
(c) How do they do their data collection?
(d) What do you understand after reading the entire article?
Part 2: Evaluate the journal article (7 questions. (300 – 500 words long)
In this part, you will evaluate the strong and weak sides of the study. To do this, you have to look at each section of the study. Generally, a journal article is divided into several sections: Title, Abstract, Introduction, Literature Review, Method/Design, Procedures, Results, Discussions, Limitations, and Conclusions. Read each section to evaluate the strong and weak sides of the study. Make sure your evaluation has answered the questions below.
You should write the evaluation as an essay. DO NOT “COPY AND PASTE” THE QUESTIONS IN YOUR EVALUATION.
(a) Write the citation using APA format.
(b) How appropriate and clear is the ‘title’ of the article? Look at the abstract. Does the abstract summarize the argument and key findings of the study?
(c) How appropriate are the ‘study design’ and ‘methods’ for the purpose of this study?
(d) Have the ‘procedures’ detailed and clear enough for the reader to replicate them?
(e) How well does the researcher(s) write the ‘discussion’?
(f) What are the ‘strengths’ of the study?
(g) What are the ‘limitations’ of the study? Does it have a “call for future research”?
Part 3: Annotated Bibliography (2×5=10 points) (Each is about 300 words)
Go to your article’s ‘reference section’ and select 2 articles from the reference section for annotated bibliography. An annotated bibliography is a short summary or evaluation of each source the article used. An annotated bibliography should have four essential parts in a single paragraph: (a) a citation, (b) a summary of the major arguments, (c) a justification of the appropriateness of the study, and (d) a description of how the text will further inform the topic (or the study) you have chosen.

Attached below is the format you should follow.
Section 1: In this section you’ll identify (create) a problem that needs to be addressed and you can be creative as to the problem you want to address. Maybe there is an actual problem in your town or city that needs addressed. Or perhaps there is a problem in which you are very interested in addressing.  You can create a problem if necessary. Take the section sentences one at a time and just answer each one as best as you can. Don’t be anxious if you can’t answer each question right away. You may have to think about each item for a while. Remember, as grants professionals we know that organization is key!  You may place your writing below the italicized description or delete the italicized information and write your narrative in that place.  If you decide to delete the italized information make sure you do not forget to address any of the required items.  Forgetting to address some item within an application will usually cause a proposal to be unfunded.
Section 2: n this section I DO NOT expect you to provide an elaborate evaluation plan but just a simple way of determining if your proposed program was successful.  If this were a large, complex proposal we would most likely hire an evaluator or an evaluation team to develop and conduct the evaluation.
Sections 3: In this section the Shannon Foundation wants to know how well your organization is connected to other organizations. You may be creative as to the organizations to which your created organization is connected.
Section 4: Just answer accordingly.
Section 5: For this question you’ll need to determine how much funding you think you’ll need for your proposed program or project. For this exercise let’s say you’ll need $150,000 for your entire program or project.
Section 6: For this question you’ll request $100,000 from the Shannon Foundation for your program or project for a 24 month period beginning on January 1, 2024 and ending on December 31, 2025. We’ll say that your organization already has $50,000 contributed in cash from other sources.
Section 7: For this question say your organization is provided $50,000 per year from local corporate sponsors for operating funds.
Section 8: For this question say your organization has $20,000 pending from a proposal from the local United Way organization.
Section 9: January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2025.
Section 10: For this section we’ll say your program or project will not be ongoing and will be completed by December 31, 2025. So you will not have to answer this question. However, if this were an actual proposal you were sending to a private-sector sponsor requesting operating expenses how would you continue operating after the grant award ended? Sustainability is a real issue for proposal writers and developers. Just writing in a proposal narrative that you will just seek more grant funding usually won’t be accepted well by a sponsor.

-USE THE ISC (TUTORING CENTER) IF YOU NEED HELP WITH MLA FORMAT OR ESSAY WRITING.
-There is no need for MLA format for the margins and headings for the exam.  You do not need a cover page but have your name on the first page of the exam; you don’t need to put my name on the paper (I know what my name is, lol).
-SEE “Syllabus” TAB FOR MLA 8 GUIDE

The purpose of the broad-frame assignment is to connect theoretical/academic mat

The purpose of the broad-frame assignment is to connect theoretical/academic material on media effects and content to “real world” cases. For example, you can examine many of the subtopics related to media and COVID-19 through the lens of the theories we discuss in this course, such as agenda setting or framing. This assignment requires you to select a case that interests you and broadcast it publicly through some type of media channel. This may include traditional news outlets, social media or other media channels. You will then analyze the case using the theory in this course as a framework. The final assignment should be approximately 10-12 pages in length (double-spaced, standard font size; page count does not include references).
What you need to do is create a short draft/proposal for this case study assignment. The proposal will include some parts of the final case study paper: an introduction, part of the literature review, a methodology part and part of the media review. While you are welcome to outline your case study paper if this is helpful to your writing process, this assignment requires that you begin writing your paper in paragraph form rather than in outline form.
More information about each section can be found in the Assignment Guide for the Case Study Assignment. For the purposes of this proposal assignment, you should include:
Introduction: Describe the overall purpose of the paper (including a case description of the background/background; a brief preview of the type of media content that will be analyzed and the theoretical/academic literature that will be used; an argument for why this area of theoretical/academic literature is best suited to understand the case).
Literature Review: A summary of the theoretical/academic literature reviewed for the case (citations to at least 3 sources – 10 required for full text, but at least 3 for proposals). Be sure to explain the theory you are using so that it is clear how it applies to the case.
Methods: Identify the media content analyzed, provide a rationale for selecting the media content, and describe how the media content was collected.
Media Review: Selected media are analyzed based on insights related to the theoretical framework outlined in the literature review. The results of analyzing media texts are written in a narrative/thematic/descriptive format, with example quotes interspersed as evidence. In other words, describe the media source (video, text, image, etc.) and the topic, using quotations to illustrate it, enough so that the reader can understand how the examples relate to the theory and previous parts of the paper. For proposal assignments, you should have at least two media sources; you will add more to the full text.
References: Provide your references in APA style. You should also use APA style for in-text citations. You do not need to include other elements of APA format, such as a running title or abstract, but please make sure your name appears on the paper.
