Select an article on a pathogen published in the last three years, apply knowledge learned in BIOS 242, and write a paper.
The goal for this project is:
• to make connections between concepts learned in the course and what is observed in a health care setting
• to understand real-life applications of microbiology
For this assignment, you will summarize an article about a pathogen of your choice, apply principles learned to your pathogen, and discuss the healthcare implications of this pathogen. New diseases are continuously being discovered. They seem to emerge from other sources. Smallpox which came from cows, Novel diseases seem to have no known original source, such as Legionnaires Disease (Legionella pneumophilaLinks to an external site.) Give an example of an emerging or novel disease and discuss how it became a human pathogen.
