Using the outline created in Week 7, you will use scaffolding for developing your literature review. To conduct a literature review, you need to critically analyze your Doctoral Project or Dissertation-in-Practice topic from a scientific and objective perspective. You need to clearly identify the strengths and weaknesses of multiple perspectives and synthesize the existing literature into a cohesive view of the existing situation. In a doctoral project, the literature review involves more than describing or reporting on each topic. Instead, you will focus on developing a balanced, integrative, and critical review of the body of scholarly, professional, or industry literature, academic and industry, as it relates to the identified problem, while ensuring all perspectives are included.
Rather than choosing resources that only support your identified problem or your assertions about the problem (which is convergence), you must also address those resources that present different points of view about the problem (this is divergence). Addressing divergent viewpoints is sometimes referred to as refuting an argument or assertion because you explain why the viewpoint is inaccurate, invalid, unreliable, or irrelevant to the problem. In creating your literature review, you want to present a holistic view of the literature with both convergent and divergent resources.

TOPIC: In today’s competitive job market, individuals often face pressure to present themselves in the best possible light, especially during job interviews. This practice, known as impression management, can involve emphasizing certain skills, downplaying weaknesses, or even adopting behaviors that align with the expectations of potential employers. While creating a positive impression is essential, there’s a fine ethical line that must be navigated carefully.
Questions for Discussion:
1. Balance and Truth: Where do you draw the line between effective impression management and deception during a job interview? Can you share any examples from your own experience or observations?
2. Ethical Dilemmas: What ethical dilemmas might arise when trying to balance the need to manage impressions and maintaining honesty? How should one handle such dilemmas?
3. Employers’ Perspective: How do you think employers can discern between genuine competence and inflated claims during the hiring process? Are there ethical ways to assess candidates more accurately?
4. Long-Term Consequences: What are the potential long-term consequences for both the employee and the employer if impression management crosses into deception? How might this impact workplace culture and trust within the organization?
5. Best Practices: What are some best practices for candidates to ethically present themselves during a job interview, ensuring they are both honest and impressive? Are there strategies you believe work well when balancing these elements?
6. Role of Training and Preparation: How can job seekers prepare for interviews in a way that allows them to present their best selves without compromising their integrity? What role does career coaching or mentorship play in this preparation?
7. Technological Tools: With the advent of social media and online portfolios, how has the landscape of impression management changed? Do these tools make it easier or harder to maintain ethical standards?
8. Cultural Differences: How might cultural differences influence approaches to impression management and the ethical considerations therein? Are there divergent norms about self-presentation across different industries or regions?
Let’s engage in a thoughtful discussion, sharing insights, experiences, and strategies to navigate these complex issues. Remember to respect differing viewpoints and keep the conversation constructive. Looking forward to your contributions!

Each student will pick a controversial surveillance incident from the news. Once you pick this surveillance incident, you will lay out for your fellow students an argument from both sides of the incident, i.e. support for the surveillance and a dissent from for the surveillance. In addition, when presenting your dissent, make sure you include recommendations on how the issue could have been resolved. This discussion may get lively but remember to respect one another.

In collaboration with the approved clinical preceptor, students will identify a specific evidence-based topic for the capstone project change proposal. Students should consider the clinical environment in which they are currently employed or have recently worked. The capstone project topic can be a clinical practice problem, an organizational issue, a leadership or quality improvement initiative, or an unmet educational need specific to a patient population or community. The selected problem should encourage the student to engage in interprofessional collaborative practice.
Students should select a topic that aligns to their area of interest as well as the clinical practice setting in which practice hours are completed.
This project is only a proposal and will not be implemented in a practice setting.
Write a 750-1000-word description of your proposed capstone project topic. Include the following:
Describe the problem or issue that will be the focus of the change proposal. Explain with which category (leadership or community) the selected topic would best align.
Discuss the setting or context in which the problem or issue can be observed and describe the population affected by this problem or issue.
Discuss the implications this clinical practice problem or issue has on nursing practice.
Based on your needs assessment in Topic 1, describe why this is a priority for the community/clinical site or affected clinical population.
Briefly describe the organizational structure (mission, vision, values, leadership structure, etc.) of the practicum site. What internal and external processes will impact care coordination for the selected population or community?
How effective has the organization been in addressing the identified problem or issue?
You are required to cite a minimum of three peer-reviewed sources to complete this assignment. Sources must be published within the past 5 years, appropriate for the assignment criteria, and relevant to nursing practice.
This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.
