Write an academic book review for the book, Better by Atul Gawande. Book reviews

Write an academic book review for the book, Better by Atul Gawande. Book reviews are an interesting form to start thinking about, because there are “general interest” book reviews and there are academic/discipline-specific book reviews. For this writing assignment, as you begin to transition into a doctoral program, you will write an academic/discipline-specific book review. The purpose of the Academic Book Review is to critically evaluate the text, not just inform the readers on the content.
This encompasses several tasks:
Give an uninformed reader enough big-picture explanation of the arguments, methods, and evidence in the book that your reader will feel as though they’ve read it.
Analyze the key themes/major takeaways from the book through the lens of a specific discipline or industry outside of healthcare. What lessons does this book, written from a medical perspective, provide for the context you’re writing about? What transfers and is applicable, and what is NOT applicable?
Provide a critique. What is valuable about this book? What (if anything) is problematic? Approach this part as if you are writing for a specific audience within the discipline or industry that you are focusing on.
Be prepared to discuss the book’s three parts “diligence,” “doing right,” and “ingenuity” in addition to the role of the disruptor and idea of positive deviance in each area. 5 pages not including the title page and reference page. double-spaced, Times New Roman 12 pt font. using APA citation.
