Next week, we will begin a new unit where we will explore and eventually write interdiscplinary research papers. Beginning next week, we will be reading some theoretical pieces on language that will help set us up for thinking about interdiscplinary topics around language. Then we will read scholarly, peer-reviewed articles that demonstrate the kind of research you will find and use for your own research papers. Those scholarly articles may cross disciplines as varied as language and public health, language and sociology, language and history, language and political science, language and technology, and language and legal studies (just to name a few). Ultimately, however, your research paper topics should reflect your own interests.
*****Where do you situate yourself in interdiscplinary studies? What academic disciplines and disciplinary crossings are of interest to you? How do your academic interests coincide with your professional or personal interests? Has talking about language, literacy, and communication prompted any connections to your own scholarly interests?
be careful when you answer this question you will do the big research topic on it.
