For your second major assignment, you will compose a summary of a source you would like to include in the informational report assignment.
You will submit the summary of approximately one page, formatted as one paragraph, to the guidelines outlined in the course and in the reading “Writing Summaries,” but you should remember that in your summary you need to have:
a lead
original language
objectivity
a discussion of the topic, thesis, and main points
a summarizing sentence that hits at the intent and theme of the piece, and
an academic tone and structure that is free of spelling and grammatical errors. For our purposes, summaries will consist of one long paragraph rather than multiple short paragraphs, as in an essay.
