Introduction and Alignment
The United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) investigates charges of discrimination in the workplace and enforces federal laws that make it illegal to discriminate against individuals based on their “race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, transgender status, and sexual orientation), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information” (“EEOC Overview”, n.d.). The EEOC Newsroom provides an overview of litigation cases, research, and statistics. Reviewing the discrimination lawsuits provides evidence that continued disparate treatment occurs and validates the need for diversity efforts.
