Educational leaders must be skilled in understanding best practices in teachers’ plans for instruction and assessment and must be able to observe and record strengths and challenges in their teachers’ use of curriculum, instruction, and assessment of student learning. Leaders must know how to build relationships with teachers to help them improve the art and craft of teaching and learning.
For this assignment, you won’t actually meet with or observe a teacher in the field. You will simply plan a pre-conference and then observe a teacher in one of the videos that has been provided. Complete Parts 1 and 2 to walk through this process. Part 1: Pre-Conference and Observation

Plan a clinical supervision process you would use with a teacher in your school district that includes the following: Pre-conference: Identify the date, time, and setting for the pre-conference.
Discuss some ways you will build a relationship with the teacher during the pre-conference.
Identify specific areas to be observed.
Note: You will only plan the pre-conference at this point. You will not actually conduct the pre-conference.
Select and watch 1 of the following videos (elementary, middle school, or high school) of the teacher’s lesson:

“10th Grade ELA/Social Studies” from Massachusetts DESE Use the information presented in your selected video to complete the observation information below.
Observation
Identify the date, time, and setting for the video observation.
Identify specific tools you will use to collect data on areas to be observed.
Prepare follow-up notes to share with the teacher in the video about the observation.
Part 2: Presentation
Create a 12- to 15-slide Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentation summarizing the pre-conference you might hold with the teacher and also your observations of the teacher from the video you viewed this week. Note: You don’t need to turn in anything from Part 1. You only need to take notes to help you prepare for Part 2. The presentation should include all the components listed under “Pre-Conference” and “Observation” in Part 1. Ensure your assignment addresses the criteria in the grading rubric. Submit your assignment.
