Dear Students,
For this assignment, we’ll be looking at poetry from WWI. Some of it is incredibly beautiful, while others are sickening. Here are 4 poems, 2 are lovely, and the other 2 ghastly, but very realistic.

After reading these poems (none are long), write a full paragraph (at least 7 sentences!) discussing which one you like the most and which one you like the least. Why do you feel that way? How do the words create imagery that resonate with you?
Once you’ve done that, write your own war poem. It needs to be at least 3 stanzas, and please don’t make it gross or gory!!
