Write a four to five page double spaced paper that responds to the following questions. Number one; for each example, explain how one area came to control the other and what that control looked like. What countries were involved? Was control established through military action, through diplomacy, through economic pressure, through cultural control, or some combination of these? Number two: what did control look like – did the colonizing area topple the previous government and established their own, or did they build off existing systems and structures? We’re colonized people considered equals and did they have rights? How do colonize people feel about the new situation? Number three: how strong was the colonizers control over the new area? Are there challenges to their authority? Does it look like it can withstand threats from outside (other potential colonizers) and inside (challenges from colonized people)?
This is a late midterm paper that I will have to revisit for the final in 2 weeks.
