Introduction:
In this course, we explored the major events, peoples, and developments that helped shaped the early history of our world.

Overall Instructions:
Given what you have read, heard, and discussed in this course write a short reflection paper of 600 words in the following style:
Imagine you are a historian from the present day, who has come across information that was previously unknown about one of the civilizations the ancient world. Your newly uncovered information will create awareness of the significance of the role of this civilization in the shaping of our modern world. In the voice of this imagined historian, address a letter to the chairperson of the World Historical Association in which you 1) explain what you have discovered, and 2) explain the role that this civilization had in the shaping of modern culture, politics, society, and/or economics.
The idea of this reflection is to take information from the documents in the textbook and/or in the modules, and use it as if you made a new discovery about the civilization. As such, you need to ground your letter strongly in the texts, videos, primary sources (including documents, artwork, music, documentaries etc), and the ideas we’ve discussed in the course in order to make your argument and reflect upon the knowledge you have acquired.
Key Requirements:
5 – 6 RELEVANT references from primary sources at the end of the book chapters, and/or the primary sources in the homework modules in Canvas, and/or documentaries from the homework modules in Canvas, and/or primary sources online. Please use these to craft your arguments and make your points.
5 – 6 RELEVANT references from the Places of Encounter textbook, and/or the web readings in the modules, and/or the PowerPoint(s) in the modules. Remember, this material provides the larger contextual issues largely missing from the narrow point of view of primary sources.
