Quality assurance (QA) is a way of ensuring that products or services meet quality standards and customer expectations.Accreditation is the action or process of officially recognizing a particular status or being qualified to perform a particular activity.
There are currently two organizations that accredit nuclear medicine laboratories.

Assignment
Review both web sites and other supportive literature(SNMMI). Interview technologists and/or managers who have participated in the accreditation process (if possible). Answer the following questions:
1. What is accreditation in the nuclear medicine setting?
2. Describe in detail the process and quality control procedures required to obtain accreditation for each organization.
3. Discuss costs associated with attaining accreditation.
4. After initial accreditation is obtained, what is required to maintain it?
5. Compare and contrast, consider advantages/disadvantages of the two accrediting agencies.
