*** Note: Your project will be presented in a paper format (that follows APA 7th edition style and citation guidelines). I attached the file instruction to help you more clearly understand the work. Step One Locate a hospitality facility (hotel, convention center, restaurant.) that you would like to evaluate for this project. Step Two Develop a hospitality facility maintenance audit checklist and a safety audit checklist. You have creative freedom here to design a unique checklist. However, you need to ensure your audit provides a detailed and thorough evaluation of maintenance and safety at this operation: Your facility maintenance audit checklist and your recommendations must thoroughly assess the four key types of facility maintenance: preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, reactive maintenance and deferred maintenance. Your facility maintenance audit checklist and your recommendations must thoroughly assess how the four types of facility maintenance are (or are not) carried out for key aspects of the facility to include electricity/energy systems, water systems, heating and cooling systems, lighting systems, furnishings, fixtures, and equipment. Your safety audit checklist and your recommendations must thoroughly assess safety of guests and staff at this facility. Be mindful of common safety concerns at this type of operation and develop a checklist that you could use to assess whether these safety concerns are present (i.e. a guest room door that does not lock, torn carpeting or a curled mat that could be a trip hazard, burnt out lights that could impair visibility, pool and spas, etc.); Your safety audit checklist and your recommendations must thoroughly assess potential safety and security concerns at this hospitality operation. You should be looking at/considering/assessing: Overall appearance and upkeep of the facility (is facility well maintained or not); Safety and security concerns (i.e. a guest room door that does not lock, torn carpeting that could be a trip hazard, burnt out lights that could impair visibility, etc.); Guest comfort and enjoyment at the facility (i.e. is hot tub operational, are furnishings clean and in good repair, are all fixtures and light bulbs functioning, is exterior of building clean and in good repair, is parking lot well maintained, are sidewalks in good repair, are in good repair (fresh, free of deep scratches, marks, paint chips, soil, etc.) is carpet clean and in good repair, are furnishing clean and in good repair, is air proper temperature, is air clean and fresh, etc.); Fiscal concerns (are items not maintained and could this lead to costly reactive/emergency maintenance?). Step Three Once you have selected a facility, and designed your checklist, you will conduct a detailed in-person maintenance and safety and security audit of this facility. Once again, please put yourself in the shoes of a facilities expert and very closely and carefully scrutinize every detail of this facility. Remember what we learned about looking up, down, and all around. It is really helpful to develop the habit of thoroughly evaluating all details of a facility. This will help you whether you are managing a restaurant and ensuring proper mise en place before opening, running a hotel and overseeing the safety, security and comfort of our guests, or you are a meeting planner conducting a site inspection before a big event! Evaluate the maintenance at the facility using your checklist. Make notes on your checklist of positives and negatives you observe. The checklist should be thoroughly completed (i.e. please do not just check boxes, make notes of your key observations). Evaluate the safety at the facility using your checklist. Make notes on your checklist of positives and negatives you observe. The checklist should be thoroughly completed (i.e. please do not just check boxes, make notes of your key observations). Step Four: Based on your audit, develop at least five robust, specific strategic recommendations for how you would improve maintenance and safety and security at this facility. Make sure you support your recommendations with outside research! These strategic recommendations must specifically address the results of your maintenance audit and your safety and security audit. If this facility excels at facilities management and maintenance, and you have found there is not a lot of room for significant improvement, please explain (in detail) what they do well and what you learned from the opportunity to witness a well-run facilities management and maintenance program. Identify, and thoroughly describe at least five ways this facility excels in regard to maintenance and safety and security.
