They bring meals to homebound people and deliver them to their doorstep. So what are the requirements to qualify as a receiver from Meals on Wheels? For starters, they have to be above the age of 60. If not, they will not even be considered for eligibility to Meals on Wheels. Then, they have to be considered homebound. What is homebound? Homebound is when someone is not able to leave their home and does not have assistance to do so. If you meet these two requirements, you are eligible for being assisted by the Meals on Wheels program.
The organization brings healthy, nutritional food to your doorstep, but nutritional food is not cheap. Food prices have had drastic increases recently and will continue to go up. Meals on Wheels was already a crucial organization helping thousands of people. With rising food costs, the Meals on Wheels organization is becoming vital to elderly and homebound customers. Without them, people will literally go hungry. Therefore, what Meals on Wheels needs is an effective Marketing Director. They. Need to fund this position and hire the most competent applicant. Social media is marketing. Society revolves around what people see on their social media accounts. If Meals on Wheels amped up their social media accounts, they would be able to get more funding, more volunteers and feed more people in need. Funding would solve a lot of the organizational problems. They were already struggling with funding before the rising food costs and now it is worse. A donation that previously funded ten meals, will now only fund five or six meals. Fundraising is a difficult task for non profit organizations. Although there are many generous people in the world, there are tens of thousands of worthy, non profit organizations trying to raise money. During the pandemic, the price of everything skyrocketed. Many Americans began to struggle to afford rent and food. Luxuries became a thing of the past and basic necessities were even difficult to afford. That being said, within the past year, the inflated price of food seems to be one of the biggest struggles for Americans. People are struggling to feed their families. Prices are only going to go up. According to studies done by the federal reserve bank of St. Louis there is a sixty-six percent chance we will have a complete recession. In that case, programs like Meals on Wheels will struggle to survive. Therefore, they need to start funding now. It is imperative they begin raising money and putting money back for the future.
The second challenge within the Meals on Wheels organization is volunteers. The program cannot run without volunteers. The volunteers are the heart and soul of the program. The key to getting volunteers is to get a great marketing director. A marketing director could make contacts with local colleges. Many people find volunteer positions through social media.
