Proposed Policy: All citizens and permanent residents (Green Card holders) will be required to participate in an 18-month National Service program. Service can be started any time between an individual’s 18th [and] 22nd birthday. Service shall include healthcare assistance, infrastructure/environmental repair, early childhood education programs, eldercare assistance, or military service. Participation in the military option shall be voluntary. National service participants shall receive free communal room, board, and a subsistence allowance. Participants shall receive $10,000 upon successful completion of their service. People who fail to successfully complete their National Service obligation shall not be eligible for any Federal student loan or mortgage guarantee program.
For this assignment, assume you are a U.S. ambassador and are preparing to pursue a policy that would be beneficial to the United States.
You have been asked to guest lecture at your child’s high school Political Science class. You must create a PowerPoint in which you explain how you will pursue implementation of your policy and the challenges and pressures you will face in the process.
Your PowerPoint must address at least the following:
In a brief introduction, explain why even young citizens should understand the policy implementation process. Why should they care?
Explain the policy, it may be foreign or domestic, and why you are championing it.
What is the role of political parties in the process?
What is the role and influence of interest groups and citizens?
What involvement and function does the federal government have in the process?
How will the media (traditional and social) be used to influence the development and implementation of your policy?
Your presentation must be at least 12 slides in length, not counting the title and references slides. You must use at least four images, graphics, or photos in your presentation. Ensure your presentation is geared toward this unique audience.
