ReviewFigure 1.3, Competencies and Behaviors for HR Professionals, in your textbook, and refer to the HR Competencies tutorial.
Throughout the week, identify 3 to5 examples of the HR competencies-in-action by HR professionals or by others in your everyday life. Journal about each example below. In each entry, complete the following:
• Identify which of the 9 competencies you observed in action
• Describe who was doing what
• Explain how that behavior is an example of the identified competency.
Look for examples of any of the following competencies:
• Relationship management
• Consultation
• Organizational leadership and navigation
• Communications
• Global mindset
• Ethical practice
• Analytical aptitude
• Business acumen
• Diversity, equity, and inclusion
Hello class. This is a review of your week one assignment, and if you have any questions after this recording, feel free to contact me. But for week one, you have an HR competency journal. I just wanna make sure that you do this the right way. So throughout this week, hopefully you’re watching this not on Monday morning. So you rush and do this, I mean, Monday morning, day seven, but, uh, hopefully it’s Tuesday morning, day one of week one. But, um, what you need to do is during the week, identify three to five examples of different HR competencies. And it could be, here’s a list right here. Okay, these are the different competencies.It could be relationship management. Do you have an example of relationship management consult consultation when, um, someone displayed that competency, organizational leadership and navigation and so on. But this is an actual, um, example of one of my students, um, the way they did it, and she did a good job.So the HR competency that she’s writing about is critical evaluation.That’s all I need in the first column, just the competency. Then in the second column, it states, uh, she wrote Every day, I must make, um, important decisions regarding the lives of my daughters. That consists of gathering information about what is required of me or my daughters in deciding if it is the best decision. And she goes on to discuss that. All right, so, um, the behavior is a clear example of the critical evaluation competency because I am interpreting information that I am receiving from the school to determine what impact it will have on my daughter. Okay? Then she talks about communication. Um, and again, she’s at home now with her, with her daughter. So these are the examples that she’s giving me. A lot of you are working from home. Um, if you’re working on the job, then the competency, um, example would be someone from your job, but this is an example of a, um, at-home mom. So communications is the second competency. As she put, distance learning has made clear communication between my daughter’s teacher and I is sent to her success. Okay? By communicating consistently with her teacher, I am demonstrating how we are fostering a relationship that thrives on open communication and feedback. And then the third one is consultation. She gives an example and then she talks about how it, um, relates how the behavior demonstrates the competency. Okay? That’s it for, um, for this one.
